The high levels of phytic acid in soy disrupts the bodies assimilation of key minerals like calcium, magnesium, copper and zinc. Soy has also shown to disrupt endocrine function and also contribute to thyroid cancer. Soy foods also contain high levels of aluminum which destroys the nervous system.

People say I am on a "crazy" diet. What is so crazy about eating veggies, fruits, seafood and organ meats? Just because I don't eat whole wheat and processed food doesn't make my diet "crazy". Maybe everyone else with a SAD are the "crazy" ones for putting that junk in their system.
The most basic reason not to drink soy milk (or eat tofu)? About 80% of soy beans grown in North America are GM. They are conventionally grown with RoundUp - a highly toxic herbicide, hence the name RoundUp Ready Soybeans.
For the more complicated reason - a soybean is a legume and therefore contains lectins. Lectins are non-digestible and/or toxic. Gas is caused as a by-product of fermentation of indigestible carbs. No, the gas is not toxic - though it often smells like it should be...

I know the references to the WAPF have been posted. My personal story is that switching from dairy milk to soy milk (I self-diagnosed a "lactose intolerance") made me crazy. Literally, hormonally crazy. I think I was particularly sensitive because I was on a birth control pill, but my symptoms were seriously close to how I reacted to being put on a pill that was too high a dose of hormones. I got moody, irritable, tired all the time, weepy. Like PMS all the time.
Later on, I switched to organic, local milk from pastured cows, and later switched to non-homogenized, local, organic milk from pastured cows, and surprisingly I had ZERO "intolerance" symptoms. I later found out that one of the most common antibiotics given to livestock is one to which I'm allergic. My allergy symptoms included digestive symptoms (nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea -- had to ask my mom, since I was last given it as an infant), so I bet my "intolerance" was really a mild allergic reaction to antibiotic residue. The only thing I could to drink healthier milk would be to go raw, which is illegal in my state. I tried some raw goat's milk in another state and it was delicious.
