  • zero carb/ketosis

The search function isn't coming up with anything (which is weird because I know I've seen these posts before). I was wondering if anyone has attempted to eat zero carb or stay in very low ketosis (sub 20g carb) for more than a few days? Any suggestions?

I have been hovering around 20-30 net carbs for the last 2.5 weeks--not quite as low as you are looking for, but I am feeling good on it.

The PaNu blog has some interesting info pertaining to vlc/zero carb. I think SteakNChop eats meat-only...

You might look here and at his blog: http://zeroinginonhealth.com/

This guy only eats meat. He is also a long distance runner.

never knew that was a ZC or even VLC site. My stance on this has shifted and I'm more VLC friendly now, I don't think you guys are nuts.
I used to seriously post here, now I prefer to troll.

I did it for over eight months when I started. It's not hard; it just requires doing some tracking in DailyPlate or FitDay. What kind of suggestions are you looking for?

I'm going on week 4 and have stayed <20g of carbs. I feel fine. I heard that it takes about 6 weeks to adapt completely, so I'm sticking to it at least til then. I think I'll stick to it for 3 months, then start adding carbo load days on weekends...maybe. I don't know yet.

The only problem I have so far is the bathroom thing...not quite regular yet. I'm at a 1 or 2. (OMG, I can't believe I'm discussing this in public...*red faced*) But I just ordered some magnesium oxide and hope that helps.

+1 to eelnus. Number 2's for me are every 4 days on VLC. Though I wasn't uncomfortable at all with it like I'd be on a grain diet.

My throat starts hurting when I go VLC and get keto breath. Which is weird and the only reason that I keep my carbs near 35-40g per day.

That never worked for me. 150g+ of fat and nothing.

Yeah me too. I eat 70% fat about 1000 calories of fat, and still nothing. It's like once a week and its sorta freakin me out. But I'm trusting that it will adjust. I hope soon.

meh. i suggested to INCREASE your fat intake. :-)

                        I generally consume 175g/fat a day (to 100g protein and 20g carbs).

                        no problems.

it1958, not sure about increasing - I'm doing weight loss as my secondary goal (@ 75% fat with 150g). I wonder if switching to different fats - like more coconut and olive oil might be it. I use a lot of dairy, no problems here with that stuff. <3

Since I guess we all agree that the search function just sucks, I always use Google to search the forum: http://www.google.com/search?q=zero+...ple.com/forum/

There is nothing wrong with crapping only every four days. You are still thinking in CW terms. The CW diet is a cow's diet - constantly eating and shitting. A ZC/VLC diet is a carnivore's diet. They don't need to be constantly eating and need to be shitting even less because meat is absorbed entirely by the body.

According to Stefannson the Inuit only needed to take a dump about once a week when they were eating ZC. Enjoy the fact that you now don't have to spend as much time on the can and go and do something fun.
