  • SURVIVAL WEEK- Sept 21-25

Thought I'd go ahead and start a new thread since I haven't seen one from Diana yet...

Time to really rough it out. Things aren't looking so good for Grok. Maybe there's a draught and foraging just isn't working out.

    Guidelines:

    1) No alcohol, dairy, chocolate, or "treats."

    2) Carbs below 50.

    3) IF one meal per day.

    3b) Or try going Carnivore.

    4) Use only what you already have in your kitchen. No new groceries.

How many can you follow? Can you take them all on at the same time? Can you survive?

My husband is doing survival week with me this time around. Should be interesting!

Today I've got eggs, coconut oil, canadian bacon, steak/cauliflower stir-fry, strawberries, bison, broccoli, almonds. I'll post later with actual carbs.

I'm in this time! Carbs below 50, some carnivore days, IF every other day (I do not do well with IFs each day, my body seems to hang onto the deficit then causes me to overeat when I eat regular meals again). No treats! I'll ignore the 99% chocolate in my pantry the rest of the week. Almond butter and coconut butter stay in though, they help me get more fat in

B: Primal Pumpkin pie (made with coconut milk rather than sweetened condensed milk, no sugar at all, and a pecan meal/butter crust). I tried it out Saturday, it's pretty good but isn't super awesome, the canned pumpkin I used tasted different than I'm used to. It's 10 grams of carbs per slice, I definitely wouldn't have had it if I knew I was doing survival week! Oh and a tblspoon of coconut butter.

L: Not hungry so far, but I'll probably eat what I brought later. Egg salad made with 4 hb eggs, homemade mayo, dijon mustard, salt & pepper.

D: Big ol' Lamb Chops So excited for those!

Workout: just took a 30 minute walk at "lunch time," and may go rock climbing at the gym after work!

Update: forgot to add that my egg salad has 2 pieces of pepper bacon also

And I am definitely rock climbing after work now, woot!

I'm in SEVERE carb hangover land (stupid county fair). Well, it's the softserve from McD's that my evil husband bought for us, but still, I'll blame the fair.

I feel ill. I am going to plan the following for today:

          B/ Brunch: Seafood Stew/ soup.

L: Vanilla Protein & Spinach shake with OCO.

          D: Some kind of meat.

The only exciting thing that's keeping me awake is the arrival of $140 worth of grass-fed, free-range meat that I ordered off of the "Grassland Beef" website.

          1 Braunsweiger

          4 Skirt Steaks

2 Heritage Acres Pork Bacon Without Nitrates

          1 Bison Sirloin Tip Roast

          1 75% Lean Ground Beef - 1 Lb. package

2 Beef Sugar Free Garlic Franks

1 Free Range Chicken Thigh Pack

          2 Beef Bologna - Nitrate/Nitrite & MSG Free

5 Beef Pemmican - new 3.2 ounce bar

Kill me now. Carbs not worth today's pain.....

Sassa how many pounds of meat is that? What was the average per pound? I still have to wait another month for my grass fed beef side, I'm so excited though!

I think it ended up to around 17+ lbs of shipping weight total (not including packaging).

We've been 'surviving' on PUFA meat from our local grocer, so this will be our first real 'stock' of good meat, without all of the nitrates & crap.

              I'm pretty excited.

Now, to dial on the budget to make sure there's room enough for us to continue to eat like this in the future.

I would like to get in on this Survival Week. I too indugled at my local fair yesterday and I am feeling sick from the carbs.

I will do carbs below 50, no chocolate, alcohol or almond butter.

I haven't really IF before but I might try to skip breakfast one day to see how I do and take it from there. Do eggs count as carnivore days? If so I am going to do that as well.

No new groceries, I can do that!

                Today:

Breakfast- 2 eggs cooked in butter, 4 slices bacon

Lunch- salad with roasted chicken, oil and vinegar

Dinner- pizza (califlour crust) with bacon, pepperoni and/or meatballs.

                Carbs- 29 grams

ctgirl- eggs count on carnivore days!

hannah- I have 85% chocolate that I need to ignore also. I have gotten in a bad habit of scooping out almond butter with a piece of chocolate like my own little reeses pieces. Not good!

sassy- how exciting about the meat! Let us know what you think of the quality. I want to order online but haven't been able to talk myself into it quite yet.

                      Hey ccarrigan!

We had pizza at a lunch meeting today and I just ate my steak and cauliflower.

Will do some kind of hike when I get home from work.

bkon... as in bacon? Lol sorry I made fun of your name but bacon is so awesome....

I fasted all yesterday, not really on purpose. I think I am getting a cold.... all I have had today is some eggs cooked in lard. I couldn't even finish them. So I am in by default, and I am trying to be more carnivore anyways.

                          Keep 'em going!!

Katie, I did the same thing when I caught my nasty cold last week. Didn't eat all day and then when it hit me hard, I tried to keep up my strength with Coconut Oil protein shakes. I lost so much weight that I had two new converts that same week! ;-D
