    Best to worst:

    1. Before or after exercising (potentially healthful)
    2. As an occasional quick meal when real food isn't available (somewhat neutral)
    3. Whenever you feel like it (potentially harmful)

Treat protein powders like supplements -- don't overdo them, and use them under the right conditions.

Thank you! Also how do y'all afford the Primal Fuel at $80 a can? That seems very steep compared to what I'm used to paying ($20/2 lb canister)

I like to have it in the morning if I am going to be doing something strenous and if I don't plan on eating for awhile. My protein shakes tend to satisfy my hunger for a minimum of 6 hours. I only have a shake like once or maybe twice a week max, so that is how I save on the cost.

People say I am on a "crazy" diet. What is so crazy about eating veggies, fruits, seafood and organ meats? Just because I don't eat whole wheat and processed food doesn't make my diet "crazy". Maybe everyone else with a SAD are the "crazy" ones for putting that junk in their system.

I would but Jay Robbs whey, and add your own coconut milk, some ice, a little vanilla almond milk and there you go! The same thing, for half the price..

I had been drinking protein smoothies up until November of last year. I finally gave them up, as I have read too many testimonials that they are not necessary. That has been the case for me too. I no longer track protein, yet I still maintain muscle mass. I don't believe our bodies require near the amount of protein that has been suggested.

Never, as far as I am concerned.
