  • Very low BSLs

    So I tested my blood sugar levels at work this morning as I was curious and they were 52!

    I felt absolutely fine and I'm not diabetic but I was wondering whether that's normal for someone who eats VLC?

    If it was one of my patients I would be forcing glucose down their throat

    NourishedEm,

    BSL = Blood Sugar Level ?

    VLC = Very Low Calories ? ?

    From looking at your picture, you look sweet enough for me !

    Seriously, my suggestion is to eat more fruit. This should naturally raise your BSL.

          Thanks Grizz, you smooth talker VLC is very low carb. I'm trying to lose some body fat so I'm aiming for a ketogenic level of carbs. I guess it stands to reason that if I'm in ketosis then my sugar levels would be low, just wasn't expecting them to be that low

          This nurse tends to agree with you since I was asymptomatic. I was also at the tail end of a night shift so that may have something to do with it.

            I got down to 46 once, but as I couldn't remember how I got home, I knew I had to eat something. (I was also pregnant and Type 2) Enh, I figure if you feel fine and aren't planning on going off to exercise w/ blood sugar that level, then I wouldn't worry about it overly much. If I start to feel low now that I'm Primal, I just eat a normal meal as opposed to anything with sugar. Of course, now that I'm Primal, it's rare that I ever feel blood sugar go wonky. Even fasting upwards of 27 hours I've been ok.
