  • what's the deal with baby corn?

    I admit, I love the stuff. I've also noticed a few primal sources eating it, but not providing any additional information. Is it as bad as the adult stuff? Neutral? Sensible indulgence?

    I have no idea. Personally, I've never liked them. I think it's a texture thing.

        Looks like it's exactly what the name implies: miniature corn. I'd assume the data's about the same.

            I compared a can of baby corn in my fridge (I'm assuming you're talking about the little whole cobs you get in Chinese food?) which comes in at 4 grams of carbs per half cup serving, versus canned sweet corn, which is 16 grams in a half cup. I eat baby corns now and then on salads or in stir fries. They don't seem to bother me as much as some other veggies, like peas and carrots.

                Although it's still real corn, I assume the stats are a bit different because you're eating the entire cob, not just the kernels.

                  Bananas, before they're truly ripe, contain more starch than fructose. I suspect that baby corn is the same.

                    @racingsnake - lol! I love it.

                    It sounds like they're a sensible indulgence, if the carbs from the can labelling are correct. Yeah, I'm sure that the cob is what brings down the carbs.
                    I wouldn't pick them out of my stirfry, but I'm not sure I'd add them. They're not really my thing.
