You live close enough to the gulf to get some fresh littleneck clams when they are in season. Oh dang. Butter and Lime. Perfection.

What brand of canned should I try?

I like Alcatraz Seafoods. Best canned tuna I've had.

I bought some here at the local market, but you can buy it on-line at the link I provided above.

Their on-line store doesn't work, and I don't know if their 800 number works either, but you might try e-mailing them. I can only guess that they get so much business that they do not care about their store and phone number not working.

I flew over the oil spill many times. My company is contracted with BP to provide Air Rescue and MedEvac services. This included the rigs at the spill site, as well as all the boats out there helping with the clean-up. The fisheries are open again, but there are so many people that would be pulling up oysters or clams that went out to pull boom. the supplies were just starting to show back up in the markets, and the season ended.

Little necks come from Florida too.

What was the brand of canned clams that you found? I am stoked to try them out!

Wow, that's a great idea. I bought a couple cans of clam a while back and I haven't dug into them yet. I need to do that.

It's still a great time of year for New England Clam Chowder, which can be 100% primal if you're eating dairy!! Just no crackers on top

I made a batch earlier this season right when I was starting to primal and thought to myself the whole time "I can't believe this is health food."

edit: I guess you can make Manhatten Clam Chowder without dairy but...I don't want to talk about that.

I just went to their website and it looks awesome, especially some of the "coming soon" products. I'm intrigued by their Smoked Albacore...have an email in to them to see if anybody carries it in Atlants, otherwise it's looking like mail order.

I was inspired by this thread and just bought chopped wild-caught clams in clam juice. I tossed them in a pot with some butter and chopped garlic and ate the whole shebang like a soup. Good, but man was it salty! Next time I will pay more attention to the sodium content on the label.
