  • Lauricidin -- what do you think about this?

    Lauricidin is a souped up version of the monolaurin that's in coconut oil, according to this website. They make an awful lot of claims for its health benefits -- everything from reducing high cholesterol, to moderating hypothyroidism, to antibacterial/fungal/viral activity.

    Sounds like hype, do you think?

    The fact that it's outside of its natural food base would immediately put me off. Even fish oil is dangerous stuff in its concentrated, out-of-the-fish version and so has to be taken in moderation. I would ask why would someone need to take the concentrate when it's already available in coconut, unless there is some sort of emergency situation.
