  • Eating out and avoiding Dairy/Grains

I find it challenging to eat out and avoid these two things. You can ask the waiter/waitress but in my experience that doesn't guarantee anything. I would think a salad with olive oil and lemon juice along with a protein is probably the easiest solution. Any suggestions?

I find it harder to avoid starches when I eat out, but that probably has a lot to do with burgers being my favorite "eating out" choice. I should stop right there because I refuse to ever have a bun-less burger, so I guess I'm not all that worried about avoiding grains when eating out.

to answer you briefly, yes the salad and meat thing works best, but gets tiresome, which is why I don't always bother and just get a juicy burger.
I used to seriously post here, now I prefer to troll.

I agree 100%. Unfortunately my job calls for business lunches and breakfasts. If I have to eat out for an occasion for dinner I just won't eat anything. But lunch with a client at a fancy restaurant in Manhattan you have to order something.

I get steak or a burger and just don't eat the bun. People look at me weird, but i really don't care.

I avoid salads when I'm eating out and I don't have them very often at home anymore either. Salad dressing most have soy oil and or corn oil and unless I made the dressing or knew what went into it, I probably don't want it. I could should probably put some energy into making some decent dressing at some point, but I haven't gone there yet. Meat and vegetables are what I mostly have for dinner at home and, that's what I tend to want when I go out too. Steak places get the nod if I get to pick where I eat out now.

See if you can go out for some sort of ethnic food (I really like Indian). They tend to use fewer weird ingredients, and sometimes they're more accommodating of special requests.

I can't imagine what they actually put in salad dressings at restaurant. I would would ask for olive oil and lemon juice.

There are many things to eat:

                      Mongolian BBQ
                      Pho
                      Japanese
                      Indian
                      Thai
                      etc., etc.

Ha! I wish I had options like those. Here in rural Vermont, I can drive half an hour and get Thai food, but all the other options you listed are at least an hour and a half away. I don't go out to eat much any more.
