Iodine supplements are especially important for women to prevent (and to cure) iodine deficiency disease of the female organs. The thyroid & female organs are battling each other for limited iodine, and one or more loses the battle resulting in desease:
    Fibrocystic breasts
    Ovary Cysts
    Uterus fibroids, cysts, endo
    hypothyroid.

And this is a far better choice than Pacific seaweed due to several recent "radioactive" events around the Pacific coasts of several countries. There hasn't been an incident like those near the Atlantic any time recently from my memory and research.

Haha, it's one of my favorite quotes of all time actually. Thanks. And you're welcome.
"The cling and a clang is the metal in my head when I walk. I hear a sort of, this tinging noise - cling clang. The cling clang. So many things happen while walking. The metal in my head clangs and clings as I walk - freaks my balance out. So the natural thought is just clogged up. Totally clogged up. So we need to unplug these dams, and make the the natural flow... It sort of freaks me out. We need to unplug the dams. You cannot stop the natural flow of thought with a cling and a clang..."

I've just run into this testimonial today:

          Susan said:
I am now a true iodine believer. I suffered for over 30 years with PCOS, debilitating IBS, chronic allergies and upper respiratory infections,(including six bouts of pneumonia and many more of bronchitis and sinusitis), widespread eczema, fibrocystic breast disease, chronic fatigue and other hypothyroid-like symptoms such as weight gain and depression, asthma, heart arrythmias, and many other minor and chronic issues, finally culminating in breast cancer five years ago, and the removal of one ovary due to severe cysts. At one point, a doctor explained to me that we would be looking for one cause for all the problems, rather than many problems in the same body, which made sense. So needless to say, I went from doctor-to-doctor for years, searching for the underlying cause of all these many problems, with not much more than a pat on the hand and a lecture to watch my diet and get more exercise. In the meantime, my marriage, family and entire life were seriously impacted. I finally stumbled across the concept of iodine supplementation on the web — a simple pop-up ad did for me what all those doctors and their fancy degrees could not. Looking at the list of possible symptoms of iodine deficiency was like looking at my own medical history, and I couldn’t start taking it fast enough.

After one month on 50mg of iodine, my IBS disappeared, after over 30 years of daily misery. And I mean DISAPPEARED. It was like a miracle for me. My energy picked up significantly. My skin stopped flaking, my hair became shiny again, and I haven’t broken a nail in three months — I’ve never experienced that in my whole life. I have to file them down weekly! My eczema is greatly improved. My one remaining breast is smoother, and less painful around my period. My allergies are also significantly improved, and getting better. My heartbeat is much more regular now. In short, I have seen improvement or complete resolution of nearly ALL of my symptoms, and the improvements continue, after four months now. It truly is amazing. The impact that this small amount of iodine has had on my health cannot be overlooked or overstated. My one continuing hope is that I’ll lose some weight, and I believe that it’s only a matter of time.

It’s really a tragedy that most doctors still refuse to believe that iodine can help with these kinds of problems, and, indeed, are afraid to supplement for fear of poisoning their patients. I’ve never felt better in my whole life, taking the kind of dose that many warn will cause a toxic overdose! Ignorance abounds, and I see so many women who clearly suffer from iodine deficiency, and will likely suffer for the rest of their lives, because of this ignorance. I’m so glad I found my own answers, and I hope this will help others to do the same!

Another heart warming testimonial came in:

Hello all. I have been reading Curezone for years, but have had such an amazing experience with iodine, I had to sign up and let others know about it.

I have only been supplementing since 9/15 in an attempt to cure a chronic health condition, but along the way, I have noticed that my palpitations (which were severe, heart-sinking, pounding, frightening and frequent) have completely gone away.....AND (miraculously) my panic attacks/chronic anxiety are gone....and I mean GONE. I have been suffering chronic anxiety and panic attacks since the age of 15 (and I am 39 now), so this is a miracle in my life.

Thank you for all of the information and guidance. It is helping people and making a difference.

I am only up to 18.75 mg daily (12.5 of Iodoral and 6.25 of Lugols), and have been so impressed with the changes thus far.

We have another heart warming testimonial:

              Hello all,

I haven't posted in a while but wanted to feed back about great results with iodine. I have been doing one drop of Lugol's in a glass of water every fortnight together with some seaweed in diet. My goal was to eliminate severe premenstrual breast pain. I have kept the dosage on the lower side because of worries about triggering Hashimoto's

It worked!!! The pain is gone together with other symptoms of PMS (spots, grumpiness) and my fingernails are stronger too. I have also been able to reduce my thyroid meds a notch.
Thanks everyone here for flagging this up.

ust a quick update. Im 16 days (4 days off, 12 days on) into taking 120-150mgs daily of Lugols 5%. Taking salt, selenium, vit c, Zinc and a bit of magnesium. Had some pretty insanely nasty detox, worse the first couple times I tried a few months back, but this time wasnt super pleasant either. Anyhow I persisted through that painfully groggy and moody period, thankfully came out the other end with more energy, focus, nicer looking skin, softer hair, better sleep, clear sinuses, and Im pretty sure much less hair shedding (all over my body). I play sports on a team too, and while I feel run down playing, Im playing way more in the zone and getting great compliments from teammates that I wasnt getting b4. Someone told me I had crazy cardio, which suprised me bc I thought my lungs were going to explode from running too hard - and this is all since I started Iodine.

Detox sypmtoms were depression, anger, anxiety, cramps, crazy eye crusties in the morning, serious sinus drainage, my neck would get hot and sweat, had a bit of a stink happening under the arms for a few days, 1-2 days of light coughing, some chest/lung pain, some throat swelling, and phlegm coming from my throat (still there though not as much). Im still a bit fatigued, but feel better than before Iodine on the whole I would say.

I think Im expelling quite a bit of bromide, as my pee has weird reflective streaks to it (kind of hard to describe).

I get glimpses of feeling alert and grounded, like when I was a teenager, though I still feel a little disconnected. Energy improves everyday, in the meantime I'm just trying to get good rest. I also get these little phases of just plain great moods, and there are very little bad moods if any bad ones at all for the past 5 days. This is a big change for me. Any case it all seems to be finally pointing in the right direction which is motivating me to keep going at least for a couple more months, then reassess.

Whenever I need motivation, I watch Dr Brownstein's presentation - there are two now, abt 1.5 hours long each. His reasoning appears totally legit. Seems it could take at least 3 months to make any significant headway, possibly 6 months to up to a year. Fortunately I found a place to get 3.5 oz of Lugol's for only $15.

Anyhow, will keep you all posted. Thanks for all the support from everyone, esp Grizz, Ginagirl and Trapper.

                Cheers!

I'm taking 6 drops of Lugols 5% per day. I eat a Brazil nut for the selenium. take 1g vit C and 0.2g Magnesium citrate. I don't have any thyroid issues but I want to try to find my body's natural level. Any advice Grizz?

                    Macey,
The Dr. Brownstein Iodine Protocol recommends several supplements:
                    http://tinyurl.com/Iodine-Handout

I think you need 3 brazil nuts to be sure you are getting the required 200mcg of selenium. You also need the natural salt and the ATP Cofactors & you need to boost your C & Mag to meet the requirements of Dr. Brownstein.

Iodine and human nutrition. How much iodine do we need? What are the best sources? What happens if we don't get enough iodine?

Iodine has been effective with hypothyroid and hyperthyroid conditions, goiter, fibrocystic breasts, uterine fibroids, ovarian cysts, brain fog, constipation, obesity, diabetes, cancer, high blood pressure, arrhythmias like atrial fibrillation, and detoxification issues (mercury, perchlorate, fluoride, bromide).

Iodine is in every cell in the body and is essential in pregnancy. It is found in high levels in the thyroid gland, breast, ovaries, prostate, liver, lung, heart, stomach, and adrenal glands.

There is currently a great deal of research on iodine and cancer, including cancer of the breast, colon, lungs, ovaries, pancreas, prostate, stomach, and thyroid.

Some doctors are now using iodine in the treatment of children with down syndrome as well as autism with positive results.
