  • After you mess up

How do you go about the next 0-72 hours?
Do you fast, do you compensate, do you punish yourself, do you make a note of your triggers, so to speak?

If I overeat (whether on primal or non-primal foods), I'll usually eat lighter the next day - simply because I'm not as hungry. There is no point in punishing yourself, and overcompensating can lead to feelings of deprivation, which can easily lead you to mess up again. Remember, this is a lifestyle, not a diet, and certainly not a religion.

I do think it is useful to think about why you messed up so you can better understand your relationship with food. Are you eating emotionally? Are there certain situations that cause you to mess up? Certain foods you find impossible to enjoy in moderation?

        I know what I don't do. I don't write a thread about it. That's what I don't do.
You lousy kids! Get off my savannah!

See if you can determine the cause.
Make a note so you can see it coming next time.
          Move on.

Carry on as if I hadn't messed up...this is the easiest way of eating to get back on track with I've ever come across!

I always punish myself. Either I write what I did wrong on the chalkboard 100 times, or I take a little whip and lacerate my back while walking barefoot through the snow.

                Must....Learn.....Not to eat.......teh Donuts.....!

Either that, or just get on with my life. It's not a religion.

                  Alternate answer:

I never mess up. Ice cream and pizza are part of my diet.

Don't punish yourself, just accept it and move on. If you really want to do anything just have a fast the next day to regulate your insulin levels, and move on!

Lol, I didn't mean punishment for the sake of punishment. I meant like, working out the next day or fasting or something like that.
