im talking the carbonated but unsweetened ... sure its not strictly primal but is it bad?

Actually, I've read that it's not bad for you at all. Try it with a slice of cucumber or a slice of orange in it over ice.

I like it pretty much, and often drink it in the evenings. I think it's got some salt in it. OTOH, aren't there some natural sparkling waters, which would mean that some Groks would have drank them?

        Salts, rather than salt.

If it hasn't got a high mineral content it can't be sold as "mineral water" in the jurisdiction I live in. (The same may hold elsewhere). Hence the bottles of "spring water", "natural water", etc., one sees. These terms aren't controlled by law. These are really no different from tap water.

The profile of your water does make a difference - people in some areas have far fewer fractures than people in others. There's a place called Deaf Smith County in the U.S. where fracture rates are low, and people's bones tend to be thicker and more even than average - it's apparently also produced a surprisingly high number of beauty queens. It's not particularly high in calcium, but it has a fair bit of quite a few important minerals including iodine and quite a lot of magnesium.

I don't really see mineral water as a health thing, though. Mostly, I just think some have interesting tastes and, if they're sparkling, the sparkle can be nice. Best from glass bottles. If bought in plastic, don't leave it in the sun.

I squeeze a lime section in my sparkling water. It's better than a soda ever was.

I make my own carbonated water -- I'd heard that it helps your digestion. I either put a slice of lemon in it, a few drops of orange essence, or I use it as the base for an Italian Soda. I figure it's water, I'm drinking more of it, as I'm making it I'm not buying landfill bottles, etc.
