I think most mayo uses soy oil, and then there are the canola based ones. I tried the latter once several years ago and it tasted like linseed oil. Yuk.

You could, I guess, use olive oil. I think I would trust cheap grade "lite" oil more than anything soy. All the soy and grain oils use solvent extraction, so cheap olive oil is no worse in that regard.

Someone here made coconut oil mayo, IIRC.

Why buy soy mayo when making it from whatever you like is so easy?

EVOO + lemon juice + sea salt or garlic salt + oregano if you feel like it.

EVOO + any vinegar + herbs

EVOO + any vinegar + dijon mustard

Parmesan cheese, extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar does it for me.

            Sometimes 2 tbsps of almondbutter.

I make mine like hannah and SS. EVOO, balsamic vinager, squirt of mustard, salt, pepper, sometimes garlic powder and basil...

(Don't use straight chopped garlic if you're not going to eat it soon after you make it--I've read using it in dressing can lead to botulism...I don't know enough about it, but used to make mine w/ fresh garlic and was totally freaked out by this...)

                  Best is homemade ceasar dressing:

                  Extra virgin olive oil

                  Balsamic vinegar

                  white wine vinegar

                  dijon

                  minced garlic

                  Worchesteshire or anchovy paste

                  egg yolk

                  parmesan

                  It's awesome!
