  • Also Salt?

    http://www.alsosalt.com/wherecanibuy.html

Any thoughts about this? Has anyone tried it?

Haven't tried it. I just don't add any extra salt to my meals. If a recipe calls for it, then I will put it in, but I don't shake salt on my food.

I'm thinking about it for my son. He puts tons of salt on everything.

I got a free sample once, years ago, so I tasted it... it really does taste like normal salt. I've got no real opinion on how healthy it would be.

I'm not fond of the phrases "Our patented process" or "true scientific breakthrough" when it comes to describing my food....sounds sketchy. What exactly did they put the ingredients through to get to the end product. Not that this sounds great to begin with: potassium chloride, L-lysine mono-hydrochloride, calcium stearate.

I would try another way to get him to use less salt. Arm him with a shaker of spices. Penzeys makes some great spice mixtures that taste good on just about everything. Like this:

Oddly enough, when my taste for sweet disappeared so did my craving for salty and now I can't tolerate anything extra salty even though I never made any effort to reduce my salt. So, maybe try to reduce sweets as well?

Ha-ha, he's 21, and I can't get him to reduce nuthin' he's not willing to reduce! Actually, though, I have gotten him to be more experimental with spices; he really likes dill weed on his eggs. But he still sighs deeply when I suggest he needs to cut the salt even further. (He's already got border-line high blood pressure.)
