    Yes, I am aware this product was not around in Grok's time but I'm wondering on a nutrient standpoint, both macro and micro if it could be primally approved? It isn't something I typically eat, it was a treat growing up but my dad usually ate most of it and gave us kids a small taste. He usually got the Oscar Meyer brand which I'm sure is much more processed then something of a higher quality (like actually purchased from a deli). I'm asking because I've been having a craving for it lately and before I actually go ahead and consume it, I wanted to make sure it's not a primal no-no. Thanks.

    Just check the ingredients for all-natural stuff. i don't see what's wrong with it.

      Well, what is liverwurst made of? Liver, meat, fat, spices....go for it. As long as you can find one that isn't full of other crap. Enjoy

        Cool! The brand I saw was imported from Germany. They sell it in the deli at my local grocery store. I don't remember the brand name (lots of dots over the vowels and stuff like that) but I'll find out next time I'm there and look it up. Thanks!

          ROLFLMAO!!! I googled just random nutrient info on liverwurst and found the following information that I just thought was really funny I had to share it:

          The good: This food is a good source of Protein, Riboflavin and Iron, and a very good source of Vitamin A, Vitamin B12 and Selenium.

          The bad: This food is high in Saturated Fat and Cholesterol.

          Why is that bad again? (Thank you CW for keeping me in line!)

              Really? wtf? I always thought companies just list "spices" because they don't want to say what their "secret" blends of actual spices includes. Okay, maybe that's just stupid of me. Why am I surprised?

                I thought if a food contains MSG they had to label it as such to people who are allergic can avoid it? I've seem foods listed with MSG and spices so how does that correlate?

                    Yummmmm. Liverwurst. I love it. I am going to try and make it soon. It is very nutritious. I just got all the ingredients.
                    US Wellness meats has it and will ship all over the place if you cannot find good quality stuff near you.

                      My grandma used to feed us, "Braunschweiger" all the time, which is the same thing as liverwurst.
                      I never knew it had liver in it ;-)

                        Ooooh, I love it too! Except I love it on a nice slice of rye bread. What will you eat it on or will you just eat it straight up? I wonder if it would be satisfying on a boiled/baked artichoke leaf??

                          I eat it for breakfast with bacon. One bite of bacon, one bite of liverwurst (braunschweiger). Or I roll it in romaine lettuce as a sandwich.

                            I think typically it's considered a spread as opposed to deli meat sliced (even though you can get it sliced thin like that). The check out girl squished mine up so might as well have not sliced it... Anyway, I was totally thinking of spreading it on lettuce leaves and rolling them up. It might be good also broken into chunks to top a salad? Maybe as a spread on celery or other veggies. I've only ever had it with bread or spread on crackers also but I'm sure with a little imagination there myriad ways to make it primal.
