  • Do you dine out often?

Personally, I love cooking! It just great preparing the food the way you want it, and cooking the food the way you want it (and cheaper too! ). But once in a while, you just need a break and would like to be serve. Or perhaps you came late out of work and don't have time to cook. Whatever the reason, do you dine out often? If so, how "primal" is your meal?

I just visited a high class steakhouse here in NYC and WOW! The porterhouse steak was HUGE (that my friend was a TRUE PRIMAL experience....tender, flavorful, and a big bang in protein/fat area! LOL). I skipped the potatoes and order a salad and roasted farmer's market vegetables. Overall, it truly was a amazing experience (expensive, but worth it) and I felt full for hours (another primal experience.....)

Yep, once in a while a nice meal out is fantastic....even though I know there is no pastured butter and most likely cheap canola oil in the meal somewhere along with refined iodized salt.
It is still easy to stay primal outside of those indiscretions.....nice steak with a load of veggies

I work a rotating schedule so when me and the wife actually have the same day off we eat out. Could eat out 5 times in a week or it could be none. Hell even five meals out of the "possible" 21 in a week isn't that bad. I just do steak, burger no bun, fish, grilled chicken and vegetables.

We don't anymore, although I'm going on vacation next week so lots of dining out on seafood will be happening. This will be the first dine-out since going Primal for me.

Only if I'm not paying! I can make a tastier, healthier meal at home for 1/5 of the price. Not to mention, at home I have complete control over the quality of ingredients, what goes into it, and the cooking method. Then again, I'm kind of an OCD nut when it comes to my diet.

Between work and home schedule, I eat out probably 3 or 4 times a week. I try to cook and eat at home/office when I can so I can better control the quality of food I am eating, but when I eat out, I pick places that I know are good quality and then I just make sure I order it in a primal fashion, meat, veggies and butter. I am amazed at how many primal options there are when eating out.

We dine out a lot on the weekends here mostly because of lack of planning when spending most of our time outside the house. There's almost always something primal to eat anywhere (except fast food which we don't do). It may not be ideal food but it still works. I love CPK for their salads and most other places, diners and such serve cobb salad which is pretty primal (no dressing). We avoid most chain restaurants like Chile's, Applebee's, Ruby's....yuck. I probably don't stress about all the little details as much as a lot of people here so I never feel bad about it either. Don't know if that's a good thing or bad thing

we do on occasion. i get taken out to dinner once a month in thanks for being the one who makes all the meals all the time, which is nice for the most part, though, i prefer to get more value from my money by spending it on food i can prepare at home.

I've gone from 2-3 times a week to once every 2-3 weeks. I think that is more weight loss diet related than primal diet related though. I have not had difficulty finding primal fare in most restaurants, but Chinese messed me up last week.

I agree with Katie about not stressing over it. I'm spending several days in LA pretty soon, and I have every intention of eating the Chef's Burger at the Buffalo Fire Department.

The only time I eat out is if I'm invited by friends or a date. I actually hate eating at restaurants since going Primal two years ago. You have no idea what's going into your food. Also, I'm very cheap. I can make quality, better-tasting, more-filling meals at home for a fraction of the price. If I do dine out, I usually just order some kind of meat (hold any sauces) and substitute any starch with extra veggies.

I eat out regularly 2-4x/week... I order a salad and a protein, salmon, chicken, steak, usually a Greek salad if they have it or a Ceasar salad without the croutons.... I've gotten used to it now, I did this type of ordering even before going primal...

No because I hate eating out alone.
