  • Bacon. WTF!

OK, I've no problem with SFA. But Bacon? Grok had no access to nitrites. They make the meat a processed food. Why is there such a fanbase for it on this site?
Four years Primal with influences from Jaminet & Shanahan and a focus on being anti-inflammatory. Using Primal to treat CVD and prevent stents from blocking free of drugs.

Eat creatures nose-to-tail (animal, fowl, fish, crustacea, molluscs), a large variety of vegetables (raw, cooked and fermented, including safe starches), dairy (cheese & yoghurt), occasional fruit, cocoa, turmeric & red wine

the fruits and vegetables you eat have more nitrates in them than processed meat. If you're really all that concerned about it, get nitrate-free bacon.
    I grok, therefore I am.

You can get nitrate free bacon if you go to a farmers market or have a look on the net.

Vegetables are our biggest sources of nitrates so I wouldn't worry too much about them in the context of a nutrient dense antioxidant rich diet.

P.S I don't really eat pork myself but recently had some really good organic bacon!!!!!

EDIT - @ Lovestoclimb you just beat me to it lol

My local farmer just dropped off 10lbs of bacon last night. He smokes his with apple chips.

I'm DYING for some this morning as I've been out for a few days now.

As with all the meats you buy, if you're planning on eating a lot of it, try and get high quality, grass fed meat.

Applegate Farms makes some great nitrate/nitrite free bacon. They're a US company, so I don't know if they'll ship overseas. But I'm sure with some searching online as recommended above you could find some good bacon that'll ship to you.

I'm gonna guess it's the taste... the smoky-meaty-salty taste... and that chewy/crispy texture... definitely the smell... the beautiful sound when it's sizzling away in the pan...

I think that part of the attraction to bacon CW considers it a dirty thing that will clog up your arteries and most of us that were health conscious didn't eat much bacon before we went primal. The only bacon that I would have eaten before I went primal was turkey bacon and that has the texture and taste of shoe leather.

Even the frying of bacon sounds like applause

I wish we could just do away with these toxophobic assumptions and only assert that for which there is evidence to substantiate.
