  • Every day is a winding road

Nearly 5 years since I've arrived here. Still following the path. Here is the next part.

The lyrics in this Cheryl Crow song resonate with me.

I hitched a ride with a vending machine repair man

He says he's been down this road more than twice
    He was high on intellectualism
I've never been there but the brochure looks nice
    Jump in, let's go
    Lay back, enjoy the show
Everybody gets high, everybody gets low,
These are the days when anything goes

    [Chorus]
    Everyday is a winding road
I get a little bit closer
    Everyday is a faded sign
I get a little bit closer to feeling fine

He's got a daughter he calls Easter
She was born on a Tuesday night
I'm just wondering why I feel so all alone
Why I'm a stranger in my own life
    Jump in, let's go
    Lay back, enjoy the show
Everybody gets high, everybody gets low
These are the days when anything goes

    [Chorus]

I've been swimming in a sea of anarchy
I've been living on coffee and nicotine
I've been wondering if all the things I've seen
Were ever real, were ever really happening

    [Chorus]
    My musings

    The old stuff

Welcome all, I think I'm following all of you as well.

Getting busy in the kitchen, prepping for the week ahead. Haven't been on top of that so much of late. Egg bake (12 eggs, mushrooms, spinach, tomato, queso fresco, scallions) is in the oven. Hopefully son #1 doesn't eat half of it himself! Next up is pumpkin cranberry muffins from Practical Paleo, think I'll try the Mexican Chicken Soup that Pedidoc linked to for dinner, but on the stovetop rather than slow cooker. And will prep a huge batch of chili to throw in the slow cooker today for tomorrow's dinner.

I solved the egg bake issue (son eating half) by making it into muffins and freezing. Slowed him down to 2-3 muffins!

Did consider that, well, the muffin part, not the freezing part, as I expect it to be eaten in a few days, regardless. He'd just take 4 muffins or more anyway, if he figured he could get away with it.

Pumpkin cranberry muffins in the oven now. My cleanup is on hold while hubby has seized the kitchen sink to wash his paint spray gun apparatus.

Thanks, Judy. Dudes have their moments. Not so much for the son who returned late last night after out with friends and apparently was altered enough to miss the toilet and leave a puddle on the floor of the bathroom . At least he cleaned it up once he was informed about it today.

Major food day complete. Egg bake, pumpkin cranberry muffins, Mexican chicken & shrimp soup, chili in the slow cooker for tomorrow. Laundry done, food ready for work in the morning. Good grief, I'm not usually this efficient! I like it

8 hours of sleep, which helped with the early get up for work. Happy to have prepped my foods for the day last night. The chili was simmering overnight, and smells wonderful, will be a superb thing when I get home this evening. May make up a batch of paleo bread to go along with.

Will have to wait until I get to the gym at lunch to see what's up for day 1 of the 21 day challenge. Work computer isn't accessing the Vimify site, and I can't have my cell in the building for security reasons (stored in a lock box at the door). I did have a quick glance before leaving home this morning, but didn't actually read it. Will do something, anyway. Note to self: get up a few minutes earlier daily to review the challenge plan for the day.
