  • I've heard from several people now that that game is awesome. I'll check it out.

Good hike this morning, then a BBQ with some good friends. A buddy made Pig-Wrapped Pig-Stuffed Pig. Pork tenderloin, stuffed with sausage, wrapped in a bacon weave, then smoked. Fantastic. I assume that gets the PB Seal of Approval.

My, that sounds like an all porcine version of the epic "turduckhen". No doubt delicious. i just don't eat much pork. I get beef bacon from USWM which is a yummy treat.

So, how many people have been following the EggGirl in her mono-food experiment? I think it would be interesting to compare her results as someone coming from very SAD (and sad) eating habits with a major sugar addiction to those of someone like me who is already a keto burning machine.

Of course she would probably get the water whoosh that I wouldn't but it might be interesting to give it a try. It certainly would make doing the shopping easy.

      • I have been reading her journal of it. Very interesting. I find the speed of the weight-loss to be a little alarming, but then, coming from SAD, perhaps it is not unusual. I have thought about doing an eggs only Down Day(doing ADF), but only THOUGHT about it. No plans to actually try it. I DO like eggs, though!

i do eat quite a lot of eggs though but i like variety and enjoy looking forward to dinner
When I'd had enough of the grain and starched based 'diabetic eating for health' diet (eating for health, my ass!) my weight was 242.5 lbs. On starting primal- 18th April 2013 weight : 238.1.
          27th July 2013. weight after 100 days 136.9 weight lost 101.2lb ; that's 105.6lbs since I stopped the 'diabetic eating for health'

          • Hi PB *waves* .

I've been on a bit of a hiatus, but have just caught up on your journal. Wow, lots has happened for you in the last few months. Good to know that you're still finding success with keto!
            Started Feb 18 2011

Tried basic primal and almost everything else in pursuit of IBS control, mood stability, and weight loss.

            Journalling here

That could fit easily into the JUDDD plan for a down day. Easy to calculate. I think a lot of her really rapid loss is due to systemic inflammation of a cake and candy diet all getting flushed out at once. I doubt it would be that dramatic for me.

I really like eggs and I know a lot of different ways to cook them so I might be able to keep from getting bored for a while. I don't think I would be doing a whole month of it though. Maybe two weeks.

I just posted on your journal at the exact same time. Weird. Good to see you and know you are still hanging in there.

              • I picked up Nora's book after you mentioning it a few times not done yet, but I was surprised at her lowish levels of protein she recommends. I eat more protein than that and with not a lot of carbs, and still eating lots of fat, not sure how I could lower my carbs without losing weight.....which I don't want. I am at a highish risk for BC, with two sisters with it and I have calcium deposits, so I feel the need to really look at diet. I don't want to be where they are.
Started Primal June 2012 at 148.5lbs, and 5' 1", reached goal weight in 5 months.
Lowest weight 93lbs - too thin. Now stable at around 100lbs much better weight for me at my age.
Primal, minus eggs, dairy and a myriad of other allergens.

Yes Nora follows Ron Rosedale's approach and is on the low side of the whole spectrum of gurus with plans each of whom prescribes a different protein level.
I really think it is mostly dependent on your activity level. At 5'2" and under 100lbs, you are in no danger of being overweight. Rosedale/Gedgaudas' approach is tailored for people trying to lose weight. Depending on how athletic you are, you could probably do just fine with a higher level of protein.

On the other end of the spectrum of gurus are the bodybuilding forums that would have you eating whole sides of beef. Only you can find that spot in between where you feel right.

                  • It just occurred to me while dishing up my dinner that I haven't done much food porn for you guys lately. Meat isn't nearly as photogenic as all those colorful salads I used to eat. But this one wasn't bad. That is two lamb shoulder chops on a bed of mushrooms and onions cooked with beef bacon fat, turmeric, chinese five spice, and coconut aminos.

Ok thanks, I know you have researched this way more than I actually my activity level really needs to increase, not doing nearly enough exercise. Oddly I seem to be able to eat a lot of calories primally. I think I am comfortable where I am.

Nice food porn there, we had lamb shanks tonight

Thanks. That looks like huge slabs of lamb but it really had a lot of bone, fat, and grisly bits and not a whole lot of meat. The wolf cub didn't mind taking care of the leftovers.

I'm glad you found a comfortable level. If you do increase your exercise, then you might want to think about adding a bit more protein.

Lamb shanks are one of my favorites. Shoulder chops aren't the best, IMO but this was a bulk purchase so, you take what you get.
