  • Hey CiKi! Do you stick with the same exercise until you finish both sets or do you alternate between them?

You're pretty strong for a small female!

This journal is the sound of one hand clapping

Okay, I did some stuff today: walked for 4 or 5 hours around SF, also did 2 sets of split squats, 20 reps each side.

Other than that, I've done very little over the last... week? I should change the intro so that it's open to anyone to share their fitness goals etc. That way at least Ci will have someone to communicate with
"I think the basic anti-aging diet is also the best diet for prevention and treatment of diabetes, scleroderma, and the various "connective tissue diseases." This would emphasize high protein, low unsaturated fats, low iron, and high antioxidant consumption, with a moderate or low starch consumption.

In practice, this means that a major part of the diet should be milk, cheese, eggs, shellfish, fruits and coconut oil, with vitamin E and salt as the safest supplements."

Oh nooo - I didn't mean it like that... it's great that you're still waving the flag for us! When I am motivated it's great to have you guys to bounce off... but when I get tired, nothing can motivate me...

The worst thing is that I've gained weight since starting this journal and taking my pics... and I have no idea how it happened It's ever since I got that food poisoning. Oh well...

I love walking, but do you ever think it makes no difference to your body?

        • I wish that it were - but I gained the weight before I started the progesterone / went on hols. I thought it was bloating, but it's lasted for so long now I'm thinking it must be fat... ffs

Oh, I agree that it does wonders for endorphins etc., and yeah, probably for weight loss, but in my case I need to be doing more than 2 hours a day to see an effect from it..

          • Hello COY!

Thanks for the invite to post over here.

Today I was on the treadmill for an hour. It's been forever since I've done cardio for over 45 minutes. I was motivated by Driedmango after seeing her cardio log yesterday.

            I did this in intervals:
            6.0 mph for 10 minutes
            5.2 for 30 minutes
            4.0 with 5% incline for 20 minutes

My performance is down. Two years ago I could run and jog for an hour with the same effort as what I did today. I'm not sure what the deal is with that. But I'm happy that my blood sugar level didn't cut my time short today. Whoop Whoop!

            • I think walking 4-5 hours definitely makes a difference. Walking for 30 minutes though, not so much. I agree that if walking is your primary workout, you'd probably have to do at least 2 hours a day for it to make a difference, which is why I don't think it's actually that great of a workout. But walking around with friends, even just shopping, is definitely a good form of play and way healthier than sitting around.

              • I never thought of videos... Might come in handy if I don't want to rush to the gym in the mornings. I watched bits of the first video... I want a kettle bell for the house. Do you have one?

This morning's workout went like this:

6.0 for 5 minutes on treadmill
                5.5 for 10
                Bench press 60lbs 3x10
                Overhead press 30lbs 3x12
                Low row 50lbs 3x12
                5.5 for 10 minutes

I has planned on more cardio but my blood sugar dropped. Oh we'll... There is always tomorrow!

                • Thanks! I've been lifting for years... But just got over my fear of heavier weights about a year and a half ago. I did Stronglifts 5x5 for a couple of months in the winter too.

Isn't that close to what you use weight wise? You are much smaller than me too.

I'm 5'5 and a half. I've hear something like that too before but I don't think I'm that tall.

One of these days I'm going to focus of doing pull ups and chin ups. I just prefer weights.

                    • Helloooo! One of the prodigal daughters has returned...

Finally had a chance to do some exercise today - not much, but it was better than nothing.

Swimming: 6 lengths of a 30 meter pool
Body weight: 30 Burpees, split squats 10 x 2 each side.
                      Some other yoga stuff.

Welcome Brooke! Do you have any fitness goals?

I always seem to dislike burpees and body weight stuff. It almost seems like it takes more motivation because you don't have to go to an actual gym.

Fitness goals... Right now I want to focus on getting more cardio in and not losing any strength. Eventually I want to be able to do pull-ups and chin-ups.

                        Today's exercise:
                        5.5 for 40 minutes
4.0 at with incline ranging from 3-8% for 25 minutes

That's interesting that you dislike bw exercises: for me going to the gym is such a pain in the ass.

                          Wednesday:
8 lengths 30 metre pool, 27 burpees, side squats 10 each side x 2 reps.

                          Thursday:
11 lengths 30 metre pool, 25 burpees, 3 sets Sun Salutations, side squats 10 each side x 2 reps.

That night I saw my nieces. I picked them both up like babies. One weighs around 90lbs and the other around 105lbs. I know it's not really exercise but it's nice to know my strength is functional. lol

                              June 21st:
                              treadmill for 1 hour

                              • Saturday, June 22:

                                lat pull down machine: 70lbs 3x10, 60lbs 2x15
                                Bench press with dumb bells: 60lbs 3x8, 50lbs 2x12
                                leg press machine, single leg: 90lbs 3x10, 80lbs 2x15

overhead press with barbell: 40lbs 3x10
                                kettle bell swings: 20lbs 3x15

The biggest kettle bell my gym has is 20lbs. Is that a decent weight for a female?

                                treadmill: 45 minutes total
                                35 minutes at 5.2
10 minutes at 4 with incline from 4-8%

I also stretch at the end of my workouts. Usually only 5-10 minutes though. I hate taking the time to stretch!
