  • I have - they are pretty lovely. I'm going to take a ton of them when I'm home visiting my mom next week. Let her pay the water bill...
Is it weird in here, or is it just me?

    • What are the discoloured patches you have - are they pigmentation?
"I think the basic anti-aging diet is also the best diet for prevention and treatment of diabetes, scleroderma, and the various "connective tissue diseases." This would emphasize high protein, low unsaturated fats, low iron, and high antioxidant consumption, with a moderate or low starch consumption.

In practice, this means that a major part of the diet should be milk, cheese, eggs, shellfish, fruits and coconut oil, with vitamin E and salt as the safest supplements."

If you zoom out on your internet browser you can see it defined better.

I used to get something similar on my chest that my allergist told me was yeast. I have an anti-fungal soap he gave me that helped clear it up (the chest one) so I'll try it on my neck... I'm not sure if I have it here, though. It might be at my mom's.

        • Wednesday, May 15

          Sleep/Energy:
          - Slept 10pm-8am. TEN hours! Phew. Woke up once or twice with heart palpitations. I think that soy sauce actually fucked me up.
          - Energy great until the sprints. Sleepy around 5:30pm

          Food/Digestion:
          - 9:30am: 50g salmon and 1 egg scrambled in coconut oil and aminos, 1 cup rice.
          - 1:30-2:30pm: 1 apple and 3 cantaloupe spears with maple syrup and cinnamon; 85 g lamb, 1/2 cup coconut milk ice cream
          - 6:30pm: 1 can tuna + 2 eggs + rice cooked in coconut oil with curry and aminos; 1 orange
          - 8pm: ~2 tbs maple syrup, 1 tbs cocoa, salt and vanilla. So good.
-Liquids: carrot juice (salted, 1 cup)
          - Going out tonight but not going to drink. Alcohol has been proven muy mal for my body. I will probably have a tonic with juice or something just to make it look like I am participating, but my choice would be to stick to water.

          - Since I had it measured, ~2000 kcal. 230 g carb, 130 g protein, 65 g fat.

          - Bloat: bad at the end of the day .
          - BM's: ok

          Thirst:
          - Not excessive. Will take this out of the daily journal since coconut water seems to have done the trick.

          Supps:
          - Gelatin
          - Noopepts (10mg x 2)
          - Magnesium Citrate (400mg. BMs not great today, so upping it)

          Temp:
          - Great. Will take this out of the daily journal as well.

          Acne:
          - Healing slowly… I think. Kind of looks like what it used to before the fruit and sugar experiment. Smeared honey all over it this morning. Hopefully that will calm it down. Sadness.

          Exercise:
Still taking it easy. I awoke this morning with a serious wrench in my neck and I don't want to aggravate it.
          Morning:
          - CC progression: pushups (10 x 3), flat leg raises (20 x 2)
          - Jumping squats; pulled myself into a couple of headstands (only 2 because of my neck)
          Afternoon:
          - Jogged about a mile to the park (up and down hill)
          - sprints (only 2. Asthma)
          - Wanted to use the jungle gym but it was raining and I didn't want to slip and die.

          Mental State:
I don’t usually comment on this because… no one cares (including me), but I got put in a really bad place today when I picked up my lab work from school. It was only for standard bacteria and parasites and I knew it was going to be negative but I was still so let down that it was. I calmly walked out of the health center, got in my car, drove home, walked into my bedroom, placed a pillow over my mouth, and screamed bloody murder. I then put my running shoes on and jogged to the park in the rain to do sprints.

I will get the tests I really want when I see my GI doc in Los Angeles next week. I don't want to think about what my reaction will be when those show up negative as well. Le sigh…

          −−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−

Mom and I are constantly sending each other food porn (both from our own kitchens and from off the internet) but for some reason THIS made my mouth water more than usual. This looks more appetizing to me than the cake pops they're meant to mimic. Dates + meat = real candy.

          • Yay to coconut water! You might have seen in my journal that I regularly drink a litre a day (at least) - it's a lifesaver for me.

Odd as it sounds, I'm sorry to hear about your (good) results..! I know how shit it is to feel terrible and have someone tell you theres nothing wrong / it's all in your head. A really extreme example is my mum, who was sick for 20 years before she was diagnosed with hashimotos.

Speaking of which, the way she was diagnosed eventually was by having a scan of her thyroid. The way I was diagnosed was with a scan of my womb. After you get a full hormone panel, and if nothing shows up again, perhaps you could get a scan of your stomach done? Or even a biopsy? (they're not just for cancer).

You still have lots of options. And in the interim you seem to be experiencing health improvements? Keep the faith!

And finally - YUM!!! Making that today

Im pretty sure that is a fungus. I had similar spots on my shoulder that would lighten and darken. My friend also had it all over his chest for awhile. Mine just went away after i got off low carb if i recall.

Maybe you do have a bacterial/fungal problem and anything yeasty makes it show up? Could explain the bloating as well.

I do see that! You do like your coconut water. It is mighty tasty. What has it done for you, exactly?

Yeah, I know it. I've had an ultra sound of everything (including my ovaries. They're both there, so that's good) and I've had an endoscopy. I can't remember if they took anything, but all they saw was a little inflammation. No shit, doc. But I am experiencing a LOT of health improvements! And so many of them have all occurred very recently. All thanks to Zach's advice, really. I should send him a fruit basket or something

Did you make them? Didyoudidyoudidyoudidyou?? You must take photos if you haven't already eaten them all!

But noooooooobody listened to me, did they? I'm telling you, fungas make the most sense. It's why ketosis worked for a short time, why I cannot drink wine or eat grapes, eat anything with bakers yeast, can't breathe when I eat nuts that aren't completely fresh, can't do ACV or vinegars, etc. And the stomach bug I had would have made it worse because it probably killed off a lot of the beneficial bacteria / yeast that was keeping it (mostly) in check. But what do I do? I am definitely no longer low carb (at least 200g carbs/day, it seems) and my attempts to repopulate my gut with good bacteria has been futile (in the past, at least. I could try again). Maybe I'll just have to bite the bullet and try goat's or sheep's yogurt. Between the time when I stopped eating gluten and when I contracted whatever that illness was, I was eating a ton of yogurt (bovine) and I was in fabulous health. I just can't seem to tolerate the dairy proteins anymore.

Wow. If you have a gut feeling (pun intended) that it's a fungus, maybe it is? I presume you got tested for it?

Funny you say that about ketosis - when I was in it the fungus (candida) on my toenails disappeared! Then came back

What have you done to repopulate your gut? I sure hope Chocotaco doesn't suddenly launch into this journal - he'll start telling you to get a poop transplant or something

I had unquenchable thirst, and coconut water was the only thing that got rid of it! Plus it's delicious. I've been drinking it for a few years now.

Ha, haven't made them - yet! Maybe tomorrow. Will post a pic!

                    • Re: fungus. Heres what I would do if I were you.

Jump in the ocean as much as possible and take daily baths in magnesium sulfate, sea salt and baking soda.

Get as much sun on your entire body as you can. Daily naked tanning if possible.

Supplement with coconut water, coconut oil and baking soda. Use coconut oil on your skin.

Eat a residue free diet. Mainly fresh juiced fruit/veggies juice, gelatine, dairy, a bit of lean meat and eggs. One carrot salad a day, shredded carrots, coconut oil, salt, lemon juice.

Salt everything, drink only salted spring water and maybe some hard liquor like vodka.

Right, the idea is that going into ketosis "kills off" (or whatever) a lot of the yeast initially since they thrive on sugar, but they also thrive on ketones, so they just end up repopulating (or whatever).

I just stopped taking acidophilus pills after 8 months. I'm pretty sure it's done zip. I've tried off an on to supplement with sauerkraut, kombucha, and it just makes my stomach symptoms a lot worse.

Yup, exactly what it did for me! Maybe we were meant to thrive in the tropics

I'm sure I'll be making them when I visit my mom. They look so good.

Well I just spent 30 min lying in the sun, so I guess I've already got a head start. I wasn't naked though. My roommate and I are pretty close, but I don't think she'd want to see that.

                          Questions:

                          1. How do I get enough calories?
                          2. How much lean meat is too much? I know I eat too much by your standards.
                          3. Baking soda internally? I use it on my skin almost every day, but wouldn't ingesting it impede digestion?
                          4. What are the benefits of alcohol? I can't imagine in sterilizes anything...
                          5. What about rice?

                            1. From the foods i listed. :P a few eggs, a good amount of juice, 6oz meat or so, lots of dairy.
                            2. More then one meal a day of meat is too much in my opinion. Half pound is a good amount.
                            3. If you mix it with juice and take it away from meals, it should be fine. Im not talking about a whole lot, just to help with alkalizing.
                            4. Yep, sterilization! Yea this one is totally just opinion but i believe alcohol can help with this type of stuff as well as viruses.
                            5. Depends, does it bloat you? Pretty much any starch and fiber will feed the bacteria, i would avoid it if it doesnt fully digest.

The whole point for me would be to get your body as oxygenated, alkaline and mineral replete as possible. Raising thyroid and metabolism as far as you can get and applying many kinds of antibacterial things like sun, sodium, baking soda, coconut oil. Also to not feed them very much.

                              1. Except for the dairy, which would add a lot of calories. I'll work this out.
                              Edit: coconut milk ice cream?
                              2. Gotcha
                              3. Gotcha
                              4. Alcohol, even straight grain, affects me rather negatively (dehydration, heart palps). So I will hold off on this
                              5. I digest rather well. I could keep it to 1/2-1 cup per day.

I'm a lot closer to this diet now than I was when I started this journal, but unfortunately I won't be able to get further for another 2 weeks. Actually, I'm probably going to get further away from this in the next 2 weeks. I can stick to it while I'm at my mom's but not when I'm in NY. I've actually been having a minor orthorexic anxiety attack over it. My mom said that we can buy all the applesauce and maple syrup I want at a grocery store when we got there (ha) and that she wouldn't make me eat almond butter if I don't want to. But honestly what I'm worried about most is PUFAs, since we'll be eating out so much. I'm debating whether I should request that my food be cooked in butter when I can't get something grilled, even though my body doesn't seem to be totally happy with dairy. Minor issues with dairy > ingesting seed oils? Probably, right?

                                - Slept 4am-9:30am. I know I know… But all my friends are graduating and it's worth it to spend time with them. I woke up feeling like shit and I didn't even have a sip of alcohol.
                                - Napped for about an hour around 12:30
                                - Tired. Really effing tired.

                                Food/Digestion:

                                - 10am: 100g lamb, 1 cup rice
                                - 2:30pm: 1 cup carrot juice with gelatin, 1 apple + 1 TBS of maple syrup + 1 TBS cocoa powder
                                - 5-6pm: 2 chicken sausages + 1 TBS maple syrup, 1/2 cup rice; 1/2 cup coconut milk ice cream; 4 cantaloupe spears
                                - 8pm: 1/4 gin and tonic. For Zach
                                - 11:30pm: few bites of lamb, can of tuna with curry powder, 2 rice cakes. Was starving when I got home…
                                - Liquids: coconut water (2 cups), carrot juice (1 cup)

                                - Bloat: not bad!
                                - BM's: Loose. Overshot the Mg dose last night.

                                Supps:
                                - Gelatin
                                - Noopepts (10mg x 3)
                                - Magnesium Citrate (200mg)
                                - SUN! 30 min

                                Exercise:
                                - Jogged for about 10 minutes before I realized it was a bad idea.
                                - Pushups, leg lifts. No idea how many; I was being distracted by my roommates rat rolling around in a ball around the living room floor.

                                Acne:
                                - 2 new blemishes on my chin, but they seem more like welts and they're itchy! Did I really fuck up my body this much in the last week? And I was doing so well…

                                Brain Fog:
I felt mildly drunk all day. Gooey from the sun and lack of sleep? Maybe.

Saw these guys at a club in Seattle tonight:

Is it weird in here, or is it just me?
