  • recording my newly primal life

    I've been consistently eating primal since Dec 31 2012 but I haven't been tracking my calories or macro-nutrients that well. On random notebook pages I've been scribbling what I've had to eat which I later have looked back on, but I feel like it's time to keep better records.

    So here's my journal. I'll do my best to remember/record my diet and activity level.

    Overall health is my goal. I need to lose weight, gain muscle, and balance my hormones.
    I want to have children one day and I'm afraid I won't be able to, or in the least that I'll have tons of complications. And if I'm lucky enough to have children, I want the energy needed to keep up with them.
    I've also had some problems with depression and anxiety. I think a lot of those issues are b/c of my diet and out of whack hormones. Which is kind of great actually, b/c I've had tons of doctors tell me "You'll probably be like this forever, who knows why". But I think I know why. And I think I know how to fix it.

    I've already lost some weight after I started primal, but I'm going to start my journal with where I'm today:
    Height 5'10'', Current weight 220lb. And my weight is mainly around my middle.

    Woke at 7am.
    At 8:30am I drank a tablespoon of coconut oil and I've been drinking water this morning.
    10am, 1 cup coffee, 1/2 tsp local honey, 1 tblsp heavy whipping cream
    2 eggs cooked in bacon fat, 2 pieces bacon

    6pm: round steak. 4 carrots, half onion, half red bell pepper roasted in olive oil and sprinkled with feta cheese.

    7:40ish - 2 squares dark chocolate, 1 tblsp coconut oil, a few almonds

    hot water with apple cider vinegar.

    no more food for tonight.

      Calories: 1,507
      Carbs: 43
      Fat: 120
      Protien: 64

        i ate way too much. had a potato at dinner. too much cheese for the day. and i was stressed the entire day.

        calories: 1858
        carbs: 68
        fat: 120
        protein: 109

        I blame the potato for everything.

          I figured up some goals last night. These will might change, but I think for right now they are pretty good ideas of what I should be eating:

          Calories: 1700-1900
          Fat: 150 grams
          Protein: 70-86 grams
          Carbs: no more than 39 grams


          70%, 25%, 5%

            Good luck with it.
            I hear ya with the weight around the middle thing, ive only just got to under 1 m around (40 inch approx)

              Thank you.

              I'm at 39" around. I lost about an inch in the first 2 weeks, I'm assuming b/c I wasn't so bloated from grains and sugar.
              I'm excited to see that number go down.

                  haha, yeah I am. I always wanted to be short and petite, but it didn't work out that way :P

                      Today's Totals:

                      Calories: 1451
                      Carbs: 13 grams
                      Fat: 121 grams
                      Protein: 62 grams

                      I will probably eat some more before bed.

                      Also, today is the second day I've taken Vitamin D supplements. I took 10,000iu yesterday morning and this morning.
                      I plan to take 5,000iu tomorrow.

                      I ate a square of dark chocolate and now it's time to sleep. here are my new totals:

                      calories: 1481
                      carbs: 15
                      fat: 124
                      protein: 63

                              I haven't logged in a while but I've been around. I'm recording my food on and off. I ate too much while on my period, but only primal things. I started a probiotic yesterday and I've been taking my D3 pretty regularly in the mornings. I'm trying to get myself out of this emotional funk.

                              I had coffee (w/cinnamon, honey, cream, coconut oil) and a salad for breakfast. Avocados, pork chop, bell pepper, olive oil.
                              I need to do something today. Something crafty/artistic or maybe i'll clean. Something productive and with value.
