  • More and more snow. We've received about 40cm in a week. Makes for a not so nice drive in rush hour traffic home. Mom's flight in has been delayed by 3 1/2 hours, so I still have to go back out in a bit to pick her up.

    Eats today:
    B: coffee with coconut milk
L: BAS, with chicken, avocado assorted veg and 2 babybel cheese. 2 squares 72% lindt chocolate during a work meeting.
few bites of chicken, a couple of almonds, pepperoni stick.
D: taco style ground beef, bit of cheddar, guacamole.

I'm feeling really tired right now, and have a ton of stuff to do, and am not looking forward to the drive. I'm obviously still working on that get more sleep thing. Need to work harder! At least vacation won't have the time and scheduling pressures.

    • See if you can get yourself a 20 minute nap in... you'll be amazed at how much better you'll feel after... trick is not too long but long enough to feel rested... even if you only close your eyes and rest your brain for a bit...

        This is VERY cool!!!

I hope the drive tonight is OK

        • The drive wasn't too bad if one used reasonable speeds. Lots of blowing snow. Passed 2 accidents on the way on city streets. The flight ended up nearly 4 hours late arriving, so we didn't get home until about 10pm. Then of course, lots to chat and catch up on, a glass of wine and I didn't crawl into bed until nearly 130...ack! Kind of slow crawling out again at 0620...which is kind of running late from the start but has been typical for me lately.

Son #1 convinced Mom to make bacon & eggs for them before school, so I managed to grab 2 slices of bacon on the way out the door. Yay for bacon (and moms).

Holy cow, better start thinking about packing! We're gone early tomorrow, just realized that due to the US Thanksgiving weekend, travel is going to be really busy. Connection through Denver, get into Las Vegas by 1pm, our friends get in a couple of hours later. I think I 'll run out to the mall at lunchtime to have a quick browse and see if I need anything elso for the trip (like new clothes, heehee). Of course, we can always shop there...I would expect some decent sales for this weekend. I'm also thinking about travelling in my VFFs. And since we're in a condo for the week with a kitchen, I want to check out a Trader Joes...have never been to one, but it sounds great.

Anyway, lots to get done at work...

              • I'm on the way, sitting in the Denver airport waiting for the connection. Hubby brought his little notebook computer, but the keyboard is tiny, so this is taking me a bit to type!

Got a lot done at work yesterday, couldn't get out early, but no big deal.
                Yesterday's eats:
B: coffee with coconut milk, 2 slices bacon
one mini peanut butter cup in the afternoon. WTF? tasted way too sweet.
S: almonds, pepperoni stick, bit of leftover chicken
                D: smoked sausage, sauerkraut, broccoli.
Few glasses of wine while packing.

Up way too late, and early flight, so got a whole 4 hours of sleep, but I'm on holiday!! So, in true holiday fashion, we're sitting in the nice lounge (hubby's frequent travel gives him elite point status) sipping on a complimentary bloody mary. Marvelous.

Might pop in over the next week, or if not, I'm too busy having fun.

                  • Back in Denver on the way home, waiting for our next flight.

The week in Vegas was fabulous, what an over the top, decadent place. Lots of fun. I stayed away from grains and the really bad stuff, but quantities were often more than required, the wine and other libations were abundant, and lets just say it's time for some good clean primal living for a bit. Meat, veg, good fats and some IF are quite in order. And all the Christmas parties and things are just around the corner.

Will get some proper updates and photos up when I get home, probably after I get Mom off for her flight home tomorrow.

                    Back to reality...

                          • haha, guess I can't hide!

Been working on my paper today (or sort of, anyway) that's due this week.

Photos haven't been uploaded yet from hubby's camera either. And I am starting my post holiday detox...heehee. Have bloodwork for a medical coming up mid week. Bad timing. Anyway, too tired now to post a big summary. Suffice to say it was good!!

Updates will come, soon, I promise!

                            • Vegas was chillier than expected, but at least well above freezing. Warmed up by the time we were leaving, of course. The place we stayed at (timeshare condo) was really nice, larger than my first 2 apartments. And just a couple of blocks walk off the strip, so we did tons of walking each day, both outside and inside the gigantic casino hotels. We saw a few shows: The Ratpack is Back, Criss Angel Believe, Menopause the Musical (for friend's 55th birthday) and Divas, which is male impersonators of female music artists. All were good.

As I said before, lots (did I say lots?) of great food, just a small bit of sweet stuff maybe twice, a few bites of potato and hubby's fries (he stretched the limits far more than I), and lots of wine and some cocktails. Even had a beer several days. In the end, as expected, 5 or 6 lbs up on the scale upon return, but with an IF yesterday and back to normal quantities of food and reduced carbs, 3 of those were gone this morning. And that's even with the monthly bloatiness going on. No wine or other alcohol the past couple of days, which is good as I have bloodwork being done tomorrow morning. Will be interesting to see how the lipids compare to my last check, which was about 3 years ago. Cholesterol was very good then, but I'm very interested to see if there are any changes, since I've started primal back in March.

We did make it out to the Grand Canyon (very long day, took a small bus tour instead of renting a car). I wore my VFFs and attracted many curious comments from the driver and others on the tour. Even climbed a few trees up there because it just felt right!

I didn't use my VFFs in Vegas until nearly the last day, it was too cool and the coldness from the concrete was enough to be uncomfortable. I did wear them one full day, felt great and as far as I could see, nobody seemed to notice. Enough weirdness of all other sorts to gawk at on the strip.

Yes, we have photos, but hubby has been busy with woodwork projects since we got home, so I have none to post yet. I promise, they will come. We should have some great food porn on there too.

Okay, gotta go, that damn paper won't write itself (how I wish...)

Will probably be a few more days until I can catch up on other journals, I've peeked a bit, but trying to keep my time here minimal this week.
