  • Not that anybody seems to be reading this anymore except Georgette, dinner tonight was really good since I do allow some dairy....

I had some nice tilapia, a big, no, huge serving of creamed spinach, and about 1/4 of a baked potato with a bit of butter.

After all this time, I am still mentally fighting with eating fat.

    • Hey! I'm still reading!
I still need to figure out how to cream spinach. I've never had it.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, steak in one hand, chocolate in the other, yelling "Holy F***, What a Ride!"

        So simple....

Basically you get spinach and cook it down.... squeeze out as much water as you can. Add cream, and a bit of cheese, and saute with any spices you might like... I pretty much stick to salt and pepper, unless I am making palak paneer... which is just an Indian version with Indian spices and Paneer cheese. Though I do make the Indian one without cheese quite often.

        • So, lets say you won Powerball.... and you got the check deposited and cleared..... what is the VERY FIRST thing you would do?

Would it be to quit your job? Give money to charity? Or pay off your mortgage? Something else? The VERY FIRST thing.

I would write a check and pay off my mortgage before anything else.

          • Change my phone number. Second, pay off the mortgage.

              • Pay off the mortgage. Definitely.

                NOT Chuckleberry Hound.

And using frozen spinach for creamed spinach makes it so fast that it is one of my go to dinner vegetables. And, mmm, on top of fish! I love it!

Love the dog walking idea, though no clue about a good name for it.

                  • I still read your journal, PP!

I have just stopped posting replies as much as I used to. I'm a bit disappointed in the lack of civility in some of the topics here (not yours! and not things directed against me personally!) and I have decided to read only those threads that interest me the most, and post less.

I've been members of other forums where things were a lot worse (flame wars, etc.) and I kind of expected more from a forum where *most* of the members have a common goal and understanding.

                    But no worries.

I wouldn't win the lotto because I never play. I got lucky in love; I let the rest go!

I like the dog walking idea but I agree with Sabine; NOT Chuckleberry Hound.

How about something like "Charles' Canine Perambulatory Service" ??

                    • Well, Goldie, LOL on the suggestion. And, you will never get abuse from me..... and even though in real life I am an NC-17 personality, online I keep it to a hard PG - 13, LOL. And PG 13 around my kids.

I am really stumped at coming up with a good name, and usually I can get a good one.... I own a DJ business with a side for adult events, and a side for kids events.... Adult side is YourPhillyDJ.com and the kids side is PBnJparties, where P is for parachute, B is for Bubbles, and J is for Jumping. See, they are easy, and really reflect what I do. I have no idea why I am struggling so hard with this one.

                      • For the dog walking service, how about using BTO's song "Takin' Care of Business" as your theme song, but dub in the lyrics to be "Takin' Care of B*tches". And name your company that.

                        Actually, that's a terrible idea.

                          • First thing with lottery money: pay off student loans.

The rest is a toss-up with paying off my parents' mortgage, making sure my Boyfriend is squared away with debts, setting aside money for my brother's schooling, making sure my grandmother is comfortable. Then I'd invest and donate.

Better you than me.... true story.... in about 1995 I was dating a woman who seemed to have more "stuff" than she could afford, and it was nice "stuff"..... Well, one day she couldn't find a pen so I went to her desk to get her one. One of her credit card statements was on her desk, near the pen cup. I looked. She owed almost $18,000!!!!!!!!

We went on a date that night, and then I broke up with her.... the ONLY time I have ever broken up with someone. There was just no way I wanted to continue to foster that relationship. Spending is an addiction for some folks, and I figure that it was for her. Plus, I had recently, at that time, broken my own spendy ways.

                              • Lottery?

                                0) Have a crazy expensive dinner and up the grocery budget by a LOT.
                                1) Pay everything off, including the house.
                                2) See a lawyer about determining how best to handle DH's obligations to his kids (as well as trust funds for college, etc.) if something happens to him.
                                3) See a lawyer about the odds of him gaining primary custody.
                                4) Book either a cruise to nowhere to a Hawaiian cruise with the kids (can't take them out of the country without permission from their mother, even if we get primary custody)
                                5) Not tell anybody who didn't NEED to know, INCLUDING AND MOST DEFINITELY the kids.
Most people don't realize how much energy it takes for me to pretend to be normal.

If I wanted to listen to an asshole, I'd fart.
