      Well, I am a bit sloooowwww. I had my heart attack in 2007, and am just now changing my ways.

      Kymma, my girls mean everything to me,even when they drive me nuts. Nothing kin the world can make me happier than they can.

      Richard, well, my one daughter in Volleyball just started to play about 3 months ago. At first, she was absolutely dreadful. But by the end of the season, on a team with 12 players, I think she became about the 4th best player on her team. She loves playing it, so we decided to pay for her to play on a developmental team that is coached by college players. She better love playing, LOL, for what it costs.... She will practice 1 - 2 nights a week, and have 6, I think, all day tournaments to attend. She says that she likes it enough that she sees herself always playing it.... She is 11 now, so we shall see. But I played a ton of volleyball, even as an adult, so maybe she will to. In fact, I am looking for a an adult league to play in. A casual league.

      When they get home from school in a bit, I want to take them to the YMCA. I don't force them to go, so I hope they are in the mood.

      • BTW, this just occurred to me.... I used to have an internet signature that read:

        If I can teach you only one thing, let me teach you to not fry bacon while naked.......

        It came from a time where, I wasn't naked, but cooking with just a pair of shorts on, and I knocked over the bacon pan. I suffered several small burns, but my shorts protected the "important" parts, LOL.

        • Good news, a paleo cookbook I ordered is coming earlier than expected....

            • Just got back from the YMCA.... I kicked my own butt.

              I started out with a mile walk at a medium pace..... then I did about 10 minutes on the heavy bag.... I can do that without breaking a sweat... but what kicked my butt, was, well, I don't know what you call them, but it is like you have these blocks with a board on them, and you step up on them... add as many blocks as you like to make it as high as you like.... well, I was 4 blocks high, and I did 250 steps with each leg. When I was done, I was sweating like a pig... which I wish I had a piece of pork to eat right now, LOL.

                • Sore as all get out today from all those steps yesterday, but I am going back to the YMCA today anyway, I think. Not that I want to, but I have to make exercise a habit, and not just an afterthought. Will likely do some light weights, and some decent cardio. Or maybe I just take one of my dogs on a really long walk.... I hate that though, because one gets left behind. I'm the only person here today, so nobody can walk the other one.

                    I went years and years never sleeping more than 5 hours a night, and still functioned ok, but at some point (quite a while after switching to primal) I just started sleeping more, naturally. I still have a night or two per week where I don't sleep a whole bunch, but overall I am sleeping quite a bit more per week than I used to. Maybe it'll hit you, too.

                      • I was an insomniac from the age of 11-30/31. Lots of stress and anxiety that I went through. I started sleeping better when I was working out and losing weight. My sleep has really gotten a lot better within the past year. Magnesium helps me relax and my mind doesn't race like it used to unless my husband and I either get into an argument or I watch a scary movie.

                            • Wow, I am STILL sore from all those steps.

                              I just found out that my YMCA has put up a new heavy bag for me to beat on. Some idiot ruined it with a knife a while back, and it took months for the YMCA to get a new one. Kind of weird because I wouldn't expect that in my area.

                              Anyway, I haven't updated the website yet with new stuff, but for sure I plan to get the "pro" version so I can do all the cool stuff like having videos and audio clips, and lots of other neat stuff. It's kind f fun building it, but unless I upgrade, I will eb very limited, and BORING.

                              Today, I had beanless chili. I have never made that before. Until Primal, I was a big consumer of all beans. It would not be uncommon for me to make chili with 80 - 100 ounces of beans in the batch.

                              I made this w/o a recipe, but this should be close:

                              Beanless Chili:

                              4 ounces of bacon grease
                              2 pounds of diced stew meat
                              2 chopped onions
                              2 diced jalapenos
                              2 cloves of garlic, chopped
                              about 36 ounces of fresh tomatoes, processed in my cuisinart until just barely chunky. I didn't skin or de-seed them.
                              3 TBS of chili seasoning
                              1 TBS of chili powder
                              2 TBS of maple syrup... yes, maple syrup.....
                              salt and pepper


                              Sear the diced stew meat in the bacon grease and set aside. You may have to do it in batches. I did.

                              Saute the onions, garlic, and jalapenos in the remaining grease - there won't be much left. Be careful not to let anything burn.

                              Now take EVERYTHING and put it in a dutch oven if you have one. Cook in a 325 degree oven for 2 - 2.5 hours.

                              Now, since rice isn't rally primal, here is what I did: I riced a big head of cauliflower and put the stew over it.... It was good, but I am not sure I would do it again. It took a few bites to adjust to chili and caulilflower in the same bite. The chili was really tasty, tho.

                              I am sure you could easily adapt to stove top use, but I didn't want to have to be stirring all day.

                              • Here is adaptability.... I took the leftovers from the recipe above, and stuffed it into some green bell peppers, and voila`, stuffed peppers.
