Drank a protein shake afterwards.... had very little milk, but had a brand new 1/2 gallon of 1/2 & 1/2... 12 ounces and 2 scoops of powder later.... nearly 800 calories.... but it had the consistency of a real milkshake! And yummy too! lol
Getting good gains there squire, and you sure is getting that protien in....Oh those plates I got work!

I can get my legs up higher as my hip flexors are getting stronger and that also means I can go faster. the bf is not complaining either. still dumbbell bench pressing here which I prefer as you can get way more depth.
Ooh err, I'm trying to imagine they squats, they sounds interesting....Fair play on the 90kg deadlifts, much kudos for getting that in the air, do you ever do overhead squats, if you do, whats your range of movement like? Cus I can barely get past 45 degrees, as my hips are as tight as a whales arse....Saw that post oldschool put up with that bloke ripping his bicep, ouch is putting it mildly....

    • just google kneeling squats and you will find loads of info. yes I do OH squats. I do them one armed as well sometimes which is mental. I can get below parallel but it helps to start with a lighter barbell to ease into it. even a piece of dowling to get the ROM. keep practising as you can only improve. yes screw ripping the bicep. who wants to powerlift anyways. it is not an aesthetic occupation at all. definitely noticed the improvement in hip flexors today. the tide was in so I was ankle deep the whole way in both directions in soft sand. such conditions never seem to slow down the dog tho. he powers thru them without appearing to notice.

Will do that with the goggle, just out of curiosity of course.... Yeah one armed OHS's are brutal, will try doing them lighter and see if the ROM improves, it certainly can't get no worse, just a matter of keeping at them and patiance then! Good oh on the improvements and yer dogs too fit for its own good....And defo putting bicep rips on the backburner!

        • the dog's breed were bred to run with horses all day when they were hunting. I have read they need to run free for a good half hour every day for their mental development for the first two years of their life. Kinda like I have to for all my life lol he seriously will average at least 3ks for each k I walk on the beach as he will run huge circles around me the whole time. And he looks so happy which makes our walks on the beach so relaxing and nice.

Definitely do OH squats without any weight to help with the ROM. Use a broom stick or something like that and pull the bar apart with your hands on the way down for balance. That is also why it is way harder to do one armed as you have nothing to steady yourself on. One thing I have found is barbells are a lot easier than dumbbells. You have so much leverage and momentum with a barbell. Good example. Clean and jerk a 21kg barbell. No worries. Then try clean and jerking 2 x 10kgs dumbbells and spot the diff. So generally, I try to do everything with dumbbells instead of barbells unless it is deadlifting or squats. and even then, I also do them with dumbbells when I do compounds.

          • Well, the weekend is over.... and too darned quick for my tastes. Had loads of company. DIL from Georgia and her daughter; son from North Carolina, his wife and her daughter; stepson and his son; the other local grandson..... loads of people, loads of noise. Good food, and a few ciders, a bonfire, grandkids roasting hot dogs and marshmallows......

The bonfire was epic... I've had some scrap wood and other assorted items that were in need of disposal, so we disposed of them.... lots of brush, a couple of bushes, some treated lumber scraps, but the most fun was burning the plastic tables..... cut them up with a chainsaw, tossed them on the fire... watched them melt and burn..... holycrap that fire got hot! melted a couple of beer bottles (after they were empty of course.... putting full beer bottles in a fire constitutes alcohol abuse), and the two sons finished mowing the pasture for me..... one of the two got up in the bucket of the tractor and was "tractor surfing" around the pasture.... in a kilt..... and he was stone cold sober.....

I never claimed to have the most sane of families.... but no one was hurt, and a good time was had by all. On the whole it was a good weekend.... but now that everyone has headed to their own homes, I am enjoying the peace and quiet again.

The tattoo artist sent me a pic of the design for the tat I am getting. If I can figure out how to get it out of my email, I will post the pic here.... I like her design..... a nice blend of celtic and tribal art....

You should just be able to right click on the picture in your e-mail and click "Save image as" or "Download image".

As far as the not having a sane family, that actually all sounds perfectly normal to me haha. The old, "boys will be boys" right? That's awesome that you had a great time at the fire. I haven't been to a fire yet this year, but I will definitely have to make time for one as they always ensure a good time if you have the right company.

              Cheers,

Thanks for the advice Seas, will defo try the broomstick tip, might use it as part of me warm up! Haven't really done much barbell clean and jerking, will give them a go as well, it can't do no harm as I only ever do OHS's with KB's or DB's, and progress is pants....

Sounds like fun, fun and more fun with a bucket of laughter chucked in for good measure, and you can't beat a good flambe.... Be interested to see the tat pic if you manage to get it sorted.

                  • Kilt??? did I read kilt??? You need to post a picture of that... I'm sure it was something great to look at (I'm sorry but I do have a slight weakspot the size of a planet when it comes to men in kilts)...

Anyway sounds like you had a great weekend...

How is the tattoo design coming, did you win the battle with the email?

disclaimer here. I hate KBs. the only thing I reckon they are good for is lunging and a pair heavy enough for me to lunge would almost cost my year's gym membership. well maybe not but it is up there. IME any movement you want to do with weight, you need to get the full ROM before you add weight. And weight is really just an ego thing. It simply needs to be challenging and screw how much you can do as long as it is hard and you can do the full ROM. Which is easy for me to say when I start twitching when I see the big guys at the gym struggling to walking dumbbell lunge the 21kg dumbbells lol I can show them! And no I am not AT ALL competitive.

                      • Well, summer is definitely here... it was 94 degrees and humid as all get out today... and, I laid on my ass all afternoon... I may be somewhat crazy, but I'm not stupid enough to go out and do hard manual labor in that kind of heat.... screw that! Weeding will just have to wait till tomorrow, which will be in the upper 80's and humid as all get out.... MUCH more tolerable! ehhh, not so much... besides the dog doesn't handle the heat very well....

oh wait, tomorrow is squats, benchpress and deadlifts..... may not get much gardening done afterall....

I like KB's meself, but that's me and you're right, they are bloody exy! And won't be adding much weight above 'broomstick' on the OHS, until me skeleton loosens up, not that I do much squatting, not having a squat rack, but me ROM's not too bad with them....Big don't mean better in your case then....

                          • Our temperatures have been lovely, however we have had intermittent showers for weeks now. Basically a surprise shower every few hours. Just about the time I get started on a garden project it will pour.
