    Hello gentle grokkers,

    I've hit the crazy part of the semester. So much for cutting the sugar. This is a 2-day post.

    Day 1 started OK with coffee/cream/honey. Then I ended up at Panera while working for lunch: 1/2 sammich, mac and cheese, frozen mocha, chocolate pastry, and I found a coupon for 3 free bagels of which I ate 1 with cream cheese before class, with a chai and cream. Went out and had a beer and a rum and coke.

    Day 2 brekkie: chai tea and cream. Paid dearly for the bread I ate yesterday. Taught and halfway through was starving so I ate a can of deviled ham - straight. Early dinner/late lunch was a salmon sushi. Sparkling mineral water. Then I took a nap. Now it's 8:00 and I feel like working so may or may not eat another meal today!

      Hello gentle grokkers,

      it's been a few days since I posted. I'm about 9,000 words farther along in my final papers than when I last posted, however, so that's what I've been up to. I definitely notice a difference in my eating habits when I do not post. I haven't eaten a whole lot but what I have eaten has NOT BEEN GOOD. Plus because I've been sitting on the couch researching and writing my exercise is down to 0. I think the biggest problem, though, is that I made that crock-pot roast (several days ago now) that is just not tasty and it has been sitting in the fridge ever since. I feel guilty if I make anything else because I *should* be eating the roast. I even bought store-made cornbread (bad idea) to eat it with. Just ended up eating the cornbread plain with butter, of course. I should really just throw it out, but I'm poor enough to feel very very guilty doing so. I wish I had a dog I could feed it to! I also bought new coffee that is so bitter I can't drink it without sweetener like I could the other coffee. So, I'll be sweetening my coffee until it's gone.

      Ah well, we'll see what happens today.

      Brekkie: Coffee/Cream/raw honey. I should really eat an egg because I always do better when I have an egg in the morning, but I'm just not hungry.

      Late lunch: Tiny rice noodles in a sour sauce with veggies.

      Night class snacks. Oi Ocha tea. Rice Krispies treat.

      Snacky dinner with the girls after night class: little peppers dipped in hummus, 2 cutie clementines, some crackers and goat cheese, 2 molasses cookies, some sweet potato chips, 2 glasses red wine and a small bit of rum horchata.

      Not a good eating day. Though I did stay away from fast food so I'll call that a win.

        Hello gentle grokkers,

        Brekkie: Coffee with raw honey AND eggnog. It's going to be a sugared up kind of day again. I am firmly off the low sugar wagon and onto the sugar roller coaster. I'm going to be better about staying away from the wheat products today, though. What I ate last night is really messing up my tummy this morning.

          ugh. I am thoroughly off the wagon, thoroughly stressed, and thoroughly feeling awful. I don't know why I start eating stupid things when I am under end-of-the-semester stress. It just compounds.

          My posts are only containing breakfast because I get so busy later on in the day and then crash at night. 1 more week. Then I'll be back to semi-sanity.

          Brekkie: 1 scrambled egg with sour cream. Tea w/eggnog.

          Taught. Felt alternatively sick to my stomach and ravenous.

          Late lunch: Ravenous. Grabbed a Little Ceasar's hot and ready breadsticks and pepperonni pizza. Ate the entire breadsticks and 2 pieces of pizza.

          Skipped dinner. Sat on couch all afternoon and evening working on a paper. Feel like crapola.

          Riding the rollarcoaster over here. Don't mind me.

            Hello gentle grokkers,

            must survive a Christmas Party and eating dinner out with friends today. Determined to be better than I was yesterday because I CANNOT believe I bought an entire Little Ceasar's pizza. I am just not thinking logically when it comes to food at all. I'm a single gal, I've NEVER been able to come close to eating a whole pizza! I purposefully left it out on the counter all night so that I have a reason to throw it away today.

            Brekkie: Coffee w/nog.

              Hello gentle grokkers,

              today I am easing back on the wagon. Christmas parties and stress from papers and finals are winding down and I'm starting to feel more human again. First up, delete wheat from my body. That's the goal for today.

              Brekkie: Coffee w/cream and a touch of maple syrup. Fried rice egg.

              Lunch: Mexican 5-layer dip eaten with a spoon. Lots of beans, but, you know, beans don't seem to bother me like they do other people. Anyways, beans are an occasional indulgence.

              I broke out my bread machine to make loaves of bread for friends for Christmas. lol. I love making bread but can't eat it and my apartment smells awesome. This is ideal. All the smells of bread and none of the tummy aches!

              Dinner: Spaghetti squash topped with pork spaghetti sauce and parm. A wee nip of rumchata on ice.

              10:00 snack: mini dill pickles

                Hello gentle grokkers,

                I did well yesterday and am starting to feel less bloated. Hoping to continue the good fight today as I have another party (I know, I'm just a social butterfly) this evening - but it's a dance party so at least I'll be getting some "play" in!

                Brekkie: coffee w/cream. No sugar (yay!)

                Brunch: 2 eggs with spaghetti squash.

                Dinner: 2 legs and a thigh of roast chicken. Perrier.

                Dance party! Danced for 4 hours straight. Drank 2 tequila shots, something with cranberry juice, 3 more cups of just straight juice (no alcohol). My abs hurt. Tomorrow my whole body will hurt. Wow was it fun to dance for 4 straight hours though! I was super sweaty!

                  Hello gentle grokkers,

                  well I'm not as sore all over as I thought I would be but I'm still pretty achy!

                  Brekkie: coffee w/cream. At some point I'm going to have spaghetti squash spaghetti. I dunno if it will be for brunch or lunch though.

                  I have another party tonight :P A more subdued one that should be over at a decent time!

                  Lunch: Spaghetti squash spaghetti.

                  Dinner: Roast chicken thigh and 2 wings.

                  Party damage: a sliver of chocolate cheesecake, 1 mini brownie, 2 crab rangoons, 4 white chocolate pretzles, 6 chips with homeade salsa, sausage, pepperonni, cheddar, 2 glasses sparkling grape juice, a nip of St. Brendans.

                  Not great but could have been much worse.

                  My socializing is definitely ruining my diet. But the socializing also helps lower my stress so I think it pretty much evens out.

                    well socializing definitely ruined my diet yesterday. It wouldn't have been so bad but eating early lunch at a friends house then led to a burger and shake for lupper. Ugh. I felt I was walking through soup I had so many gluteny carbs.

                    Today I'm jumping back on the wagon. My brekkie was fairly high sugar though: rice cake w/cream cheese and jam.
                    150 cal
                    28 carb
                    yeah. I'm doing that now.

                    Bottle of Perrier.

                    Walk 3 miles with a friend! Wait. It's raining. Never mind.
                    Successfully warded off an urge to make bread for myself.

                    Early lunch: Spaghetti squash spaghetti, tea w/cream.
                    cream – 205 cal, 1 carb
                    spaghetti squash – 42 cal 10 carb
                    tomato sauce – 5 carb 25 cal
                    ground pork – 232 cal 0 carb

                    Took a 3 hour!!!! nap.

                    Early dinner: rice crackers, cheddar, norwegian cheese, summer sausage, pepperoni.

                    Snack: 4 baby dills

                    Verdict: 1292 calories, 80 carbs for the day (approx) I ate more rice products than I normally do on a "good" day but as far as amount of food goes this is about average. If I can just stick to these numbers I should lose!

                      Kitty woke me up too early this morning!

                      Brekkie: Coffee/Cream/Honey -
                      cals 237
                      carb 9

                      Was starting to crave sugar so I splurged a little and made myself an AWESOME brunch.

                      Sweet and purple potato:

                      sliced up with my mandolin. I didn't slice a finger off this time. Yay.

                      Fried up with 2 eggs!

                      Does that not just look scrumptious!

                      The problem is, I have no idea how to account for this in carb/cal counts.

                      2 eggs: about 1 carb and about 180 cal
                      1 small purple potato: about 70 cal and 15 carb
                      1 small sweet potato: about 54 cal 12 carb
                      Tablespoon of bacon/coconut oil: 38 cals + 116 cals
                      Who knows if this is even close but that's what I'm going with!

                      Unfortunately all that carb probably means I'm going to crash and nap soon!

                      Didn't nap. Forced myself to go walk around in the cold on campus instead.

                      I loooove salmon!
                      1 filet of salmon with jerk seasoning and tartar sauce.
                      approx. 374 cal and 2 carb

                      So totals time!
                      1069 cal
                      39 carb

                      Hmmm. That's not much. Oh I forgot - a nice office-mate gave me some christmas chocolates of which I ate 3 and donated the rest to the break room. 165 cal 20 carb. Errr, and a wee nip of rumchata on ice. 140 cal and 16 carbs. Oops.

                      So 75 carb and 1374 cal and most likely that's overestimated. Well that's about where I expect to be and feel satiated!

                        the last 2 days I was right where I thought I'd be as far as cals and carbs so I don't feel the need to continue counting.

                        Brekkie: chai w/cream
                        Lunch: taco salad!

                        leftover white chicken, poblano chili sauce, spinach, tomato, cheddar, avocado, sour cream, salsa a friend made. Hot! But good.

                        Dinner: Sat down with some sweet potato chips - big mistake! Used the rest of my salsa and avocado but also the bag of chips :P

                            Hello gentle grokkers,

                            it's packing day. I wonder if I can find all my Christmas presents?

                            Brekkie: chai w/teaspoon raw honey and cream.
                            Lunch: last of the spaghetti squash with tomato sauce and half a tomato and parm. Quite a lot of it because I'm trying to clean out my fridge before I leave!

                            Took a nap.
                            Went to see the Hobbit with a friend.

                            Went to a bar for celebrating a friend's birthday - 1 wheat beer and 1/4 a rum and coke (finished a friend's).
                            Dinner: rest of the leftover chicken, sour cream, poblano sauce with the rest of the sweet potato chips (about 8 chips).

                            Ready to drive home tomorrow!

                                Hello gentle grokkers,

                                I'm home with my fantastically primal cooking mother and eating like a princess! Some of the meals I've had in the last 2 days:

                                Banana berry smoothie w/MDA protein powder, guac w/plantain chips and bacon, homemade kombucha, raw milk, Perrier, meatloaf, butternut squash oven roasted, last of the fall chard and bok choi steamed w/coconut aminos, cured pork chops.

                                Yay Christmas!

                                That would be the beginnings of an Apple Crisp there. Apples, cranberries, honey, cinnamon spice mix, butter. We added nut crumble to the top. Turned out delicious!
