  • I still fail to see how it's your fault. A marriage is a team. Equally yoked, to use the Christian metaphor. Even if you did get fucked over by a company, that doesn't make it your fault. If you had chosen to leave, it would've been, yes. But getting fucked over by a shithead company doesn't make things your fault.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, steak in one hand, chocolate in the other, yelling "Holy F***, What a Ride!"

This. I also seriously doubt that you made all the financial decisions leading up to that by yourself as well, and if you did, then shame on him for not manning up and saying something. Bankruptcy is very rarely the result of ONLY losing a job.
Most people don't realize how much energy it takes for me to pretend to be normal.

        • I wasn't laying blame, only trying to stop that train of thought. Blame gets you nowhere, especially when there's no fix immediately at hand.

This is the truth, he has never laid any blame on me. I am the one who says I am at fault. It's my nature to take blame for things. I've done this all my life and it's just something I cannot stop no matter how hard I try.

As an update, things are going to continue on. The bankruptcy is being modified. Clint's mom is giving us money to put down on it and our payments will increase somewhere between $350-525 a month through the end of October and the whole thing will be over. I'm going to pay the additional out of my pay check. Things will be tight, but doable. We have to look at this as having it paid off before the end of the year and we can move on with our lives.

I still haven't said "I love you" to Clint. I haven't in awhile and after yesterday, I'm not sure if I can for awhile. I've been really down since yesterday and I'm not going to say how down but if you know me, you can get the idea pretty quickly.

              • I'm glad a solution is possible. Hopefully, since you aren't able to initiate it, Clint will initiate the reconcillation process. I hope things turn around for you guys quickly.

If goofy slapping is reconciliation, then I guess it is.

                    • In other words, I have a bad sinus infection. I'm probably going to go hit up Urgent Care and see what kind of meds I can get. I had a massive allergy attack and it just hurts like hell.

What she said. October is close enough to kiss on such a long term plan.

                        • Just hang in there Geo..this is horrible I know. And money stress is so terribly terribly hard on a marriage. Listen to the wise MDA men. It helps to have a male perspective when you can't talk to the male in your life. And remind yourself that nothing lasts forever. I am sure this has been a horrible long haul for all of you but it looks like there is sunlight ahead. If there is anything we can do just ask!

                          • My only concern with this now is how strapped for cash we're going to be money wise. I'm not too sure Clint gets how bad its going to be. I'm trying to figure out how we'll be able to buy school clothes and supplies this year. I'm almost half tempted to talk Caitlyn into homeschooling for her freshman year just to save a few bucks. Tristan should be easy, she can just wear what she has now. Heather will have to have uniforms as well as Caitlyn. I may just start picking odds and ends of uniforms now and go with that.

                            • Buying things little by little is a good idea. I'm sure you and Clint working as a team can handle this.

                              • Geo, we hit Goodwill regularly to start picking up uniform pieces in the next few sizes for the kids. You might try looking at thrift stores, and bribe the kids with maybe being able to pick out a non-uniform shirt or something if the costs are low enough.
