      • I've managed to put off paper until tomorrow (last one for semester, but i just am not feeling it!). Balanced checkbook, paid bills, hard boiled some eggs, and organized spice cabinet. Spent about an hour on the phone coordinating with my pedi acute instructor for up coming F2F classes in August.


        DH has new job. He will be moving to days 6-2. I should be thrilled, but I'm having to rework my usual task list. I can't do homework when he's home. Same for some other tasks. We've worked different shifts most of our 30 years, so its going to be interesting. Now he has to put in intermittent FMLA paperwork to have the days off post surgery (originally the first two days were his days off).

          • I hope your DH likes his new shift. Changes are weird and exciting. Maybe it is good that your surgery and his new shift are around the same time - it will help you make the transition? Just a thought.

            You need a break, not that surgery is good, but I hope you will take the opportunity to do some real relaxing. (Not that it is any of my business.)

            • I'm in the tail end of my semester. I've got a couple of weeks off and coincidentally the next semester starts the day of my surgery. Fortunately the course shells open a few days before, so I will be able to organize and make my excuses if I'm going to be late on any deadlines.

              Went back to bed and slept until huge clap of thunder and down pour about 0900 (Juliet is not happy). Decided to do leftovers tonight- meat wise, will cook some veggies. Steak will be later this week. I've got a bit of grading to do then paper must be written. I'm starting to see it in my brain - finally!

              Real off time won't come until 2015. I've got my dad working on a cruise/land trip to Italy. DH and I will be gone about 4 weeks and my parents 6. We want to spend some time in Rome, Venice, and drive up to where we used to live. All DH and I need to do is renew our passports and pay for our part! That's my kind of vaca......

              • Finished and submitted paper. 9 pages plus appendixes, references, abstract done in about 2 hours. Now have to wait for feedback to do changes. Leftovers taste great. Beef shanks even better second day!

                • On a roll.......completed and turned in critique of peer's paper that I got today. Wrote and turned in reflection of course. I'm waiting on two peer critiques of my papers to make changes and turn in final product and for someone to post in the last discussion board so I can post a reply. Then I'm finished for this semester, early which means I get an extra two weeks off!

                      I went to the grocery store for beef shanks and was told they don't carry them because no one cooks them in the summer. "Except me," I said. I am thinking I could make some fake beef shanks with the marrow bones and some chuck steak.

                        I think I got mine from US Wellness Meats on a sale. Let me know how your substitute turns out.

                        • Slept about 9 restless hours. Decided to reschedule spa day again - I don't feel like going anywhere. If I feel like it, I will work on my office some. I would like to get my office organized and my pantry and butlers pantry in order before my surgery. Putting a chicken in the slow cooker later this afternoon. Will stuff it with lime, garlic, and rosemary. I've got spinach to sauté to go with and will roast some cauliflower too.

                            • I toss it with bacon fat and sea salt. Sometimes I squeeze fresh lemon juice over it after its cooked.
