  • Slept just shy of 8 hours. Drinking coffee, catching up and getting ready to get put together for a full day of interviews. I'm excited that there are 15 candidates. My first two classes each had 4 students. My current class which has both primary care and acute care focuses has 13 (9 in my first class of AC). Next fall a group of 12 starts and we will pick up 3 post masters in the spring to graduate 15. Then if this group pans out I will start 24 fall of 2014 since I interviewed last fall for this group. Not bad with only word of mouth advertising and a strong reputation in the community. After interviews, I'm coming back to the hotel and collapsing!

      • Interviewed and will admit 17. This means I will have a cohort of 27 when they hit clinical classes! Slept okay. Having a slow start today. Will eventually get moving and go to my office. I've got a meeting today and need to work on stats again. Have a dinner meeting scheduled, but am not sure I want to go.

        • Got homework that was due turned in. Finished all the paperwork for the incoming students. Met with one of my faculty team and she is asking to do more. she will grade 3 of the remaining 4 projects. big help for me. Went to professional dinner - steak, coleslaw and baked potato, part of a glass of wine. Saw many former students. Getting ready to turn in.

          • Slept a bit over 5 hours because I stayed up reading The Storyteller. The only thing I have to do today is meet a student. I was successful in keeping today open. So I'm having a truely lazy day.

                • Yesterday I relaxed all day until I met my student and her 3 yo for dinner. It went well, but the child was ready to leave before I finished my wine, so I relocated to a smaller table when they left. I mention this because a woman sat at the table next to me and was expecting 4 friends to show up to help celebrate her 50th birthday. They stood her up! When it became obvious that she was alone, I invited her to sit with me. We had a lovely conversation that culminated with me sharing about Paleo and MDA. She has my business card and has vowed to meet me in May to show how much she has lost following this way of eating.

                  Slept about 7 1/2 hours. Woke up a couple of times. Having coffee, catching up, reviewed my presentation for the afternoon. Need to start getting ready, so I can go work in my office until I have to go down and do my talk at 2. Fortunately the conference is being held on campus in our building.

                  Meeting oldest and DiL for dinner this evening. Packing up and flying home tomorrow early afternoon. Then I'm home for 5 weeks! I'm going to stick to HFLC for that time and really work at dropping some weight.

                  • Presentation went well. Dinner with kids was great. Heard from new friend - we shall see. We are supposed to meat in may to compare weight loss. Taking films to radiologist at 0730 Monday morning.

                    • Home, unpacked, went thru mail. Fixing to heat up some pork chops I cooked and froze (DH set them out to thaw for me). I've IF from last night until pork chop time.

                      • Slept almost 8 hours last night. Woke up with upset tummy - note to self carrot cake is not your friend! So I IFd approximately 18 hours. Pork chop was good. Set out what I think is either spaghetti sauce or chili for tomorrow (I'm not always great with labels ). Will weigh in the morning and will be following LCHF for the next few weeks. I'm aiming for a minimum of 2 pounds a week and will be thrilled if I hit more.

                            With you on the carrot cake - got really sick the last time I ate it. The good thing is that now I can't really even look at it.

                            • I figure either way - cheese omelet with mystery stuffing/sauce. DS was like "omelet?" -so I will continue to use up the rice on him. I know, I'm a bad mother, but he won't give up grains, so I might as well let him eat whats left.

                              • Slept about 7 hours. Just got back from radiologist. It was not door number 3 - we don't have to worry about it. I've got a call to MD Anderson for an appointment as it is either door number 1 cancer or door number 2 pre-cancer. Either way it has to come out.
