    • Slept great again - got to love it! clinic was steady. I had one PA student and together we saw 29 in in about 7 hours total. Doc saw a few but mainly charted. Leftovers for dinner. A bit of homework. Some HGTV and Food Network and now bed. Finally going to the Paleo GYN tomorrow. Chili going in the slow cooker in the morning.

      • I have to try out those oopsie rolls one of these days. They do sound rather yummy.

I made chili on Sunday, 3 lbs ground beef, 1 lb italian sausage, 2+ pounds stew beef. It was all gone by mid day today. Good grief. I only had 2 small to moderate sized portions. I suppose that's to be expected with a man and 2 grown teen boys in the house.

Nice job on all the good sleep since you've returned home.

Nope. Not going there. Well, except when unexpected friends are over during meal time! Leftovers don't generally last as long as anticipated. I should know better by now.

I still have issues down sizing meals! 4 teens + friend and toddler who lived with us + now daughter in law + at least 2 teen male friends + husband who ate like a teen and me = huge meals with lots of carb fillers. Now very little carbs, lots of organic veggies, and GF meat!

              • Could have easily slept longer, but had to get up and get ready to leave early this morning. As soon as I finish writing this, I'm putting the chili together in the slow cooker. Fasting since I know I will have lab work drawn. Of course I really want some coffee!

                • Loved, loved, loved the Paleo doc!! She rocked - email her any time with questions. So worth the drive - thanks for convincing me. Errands and homework afterward, then spa afternoon as a reward. Chili was yum! I got some Oskri dark chocolate coconut bars and they are addicting. So good, but am going to try and save them for travel treats. Clinic tomorrow. Leftovers for dinner. Friday I'm doing chickens - yup plural and Saturday another pork butt to leave for the dudes. I'm thinking cheese, salami, and red bell pepper for lunch tomorrow.

                  • Once again reading about your food is making me hungry!

One of my friends married a man with three teenage boys. I used to help her buy groceries because she would fill up two carts and the entire car - twice a week! The cost was astounding. The boys routinely brought friends home after school and for dinner because "You're such a good cook, Jen! Can you make some of the pasta with the green stuff on it?" Yeah, like four pounds. She enjoyed it though, and they were really good kids. All grown up now.

                      • I can't imagine trying to feed a family primal. Honestly, I really can only justify it because I rarely eat out and I also am willing to spend a fair amount of my disposable income on food. I spend roughly twice as much as I used to on food! But I am much less wasteful and much, much healthier.

                          • Um, yeah, expensive. I'm caught in that vortex of buying primal for hubby and I, plus most main family meals, with grassfed/pastured when I can, plus the boys still want carb/grain stuff, so I get some of that too. To be totally primal for everyone and have enough stuff ready to grab, I'd be batch cooking forever, and I'm not doing that. Plus they get bored of the same stuff after a couple of days. I don't think my grocery bill has changed much since going primal, more of some quality stuff, less of other stuff, but perhaps it's more overall as those boys are just getting bigger. I'm pretty much feeding 4 adults plus the occasional adult sized friend.

                              • Yesterday the clinic was crazy. Lunch was brought by a rep - I picked the meat and cheese off the bread and had that pickles and my cheese, salami, red bell pepper. Dinner was eggplant and leftover spaghetti sauce from earlier this week. Latte (my pic) has escaped twice from the backyard , so this morning I was off to the neighbors to retrieve her. Thankfully we have a small group and we've exchanged info including dog names and descriptions. I then put a pork butt in the slow cooker with spices (eating it a lot, but its been on sale and is fatty and can be used many ways). Paid bills, scheduled smoosh the girls flat o-gram, followed up on an on-going issue, sent emails, now just need to do a bank run, hair appointment, and go by the office store. Boys will have corn tortillas, pork, avocado, cheese, sour cream salsa and I will have all but tortillas. I still have two presentations to finish for school, but they are percolating in my noggin. I'm sure I will get them done tomorrow. For the month of January (with 1/2 spent traveling) I managed to drop 4 inches in my waist, 2 in the girls, and hit a low of 165. I'm off Sunday for 10 days in Utah, I've contacted the hotel so should have mini fridge in room. Hopefully they will have stuff I can and want to eat in the concierge lounge. Okay, off to finish chores....
