In the middle of reunion weekend with all of husbands high school cross country friends. So far so good with eating other than lots of wine - hmmm seeing a pattern here! today lots of grilled beef in different forms, some cheese, cole slaw, and a primal peach cobbler. Probably lots of wine again........

Hey, Goldie! My favorite dessert to have when DH is eating the crap is frozen blueberries with heavy cream poured over them. OH< YUM!!

Welcome Honeybuns. I like berries with cream too. Reminds me of visiting my grandparents in Missouri. Fresh blackberries with cream skimmed off the top of the days milking for dessert and sometime breakfast.

I'm having a cup of coffee with almond milk in the predawn quiet before the hustle of everyone getting up and off to their various cities. They tracked down a long lost friend who called and talked to each of the guys yesterday and promises to make next reunion weekend. One skyped in from Germany for a visit. Funny how this group who met in elementary school and on the block as they moved in (5 military families) are all so different, but stayed bonded. One would go missing, but they would keep looking (easier with Internet now) until they found him. There is a core of 5 who were all in each others weddings and they seem to drive keeping the whole extended group in touch.

Smoked brisket, sausage, and ribs yesterday with cole slaw and a bite of potato salad for the main meal. Egg casserole with cheese and bacon with fresh fruit for breakfast. Snacked on queso (cheese, cooked crumpled hot sausage, salsa, green chili) with celery for dipping for me and a handfull of frito scoops. Lots of coffee. Some wine. All in all a good day of eating for me and the 10 friends. Lots of stories, laughter, tears (we lost one member to chronic illness this month), and music from the 70s & 80s. House will seem quiet when they are all gone!

Slept for 4 hours, up about an hour, then down for another 4. Getting used to this routine, feel good. Coffe for breakfast, some cheese for lunch, boiled shrimp for dinner. Paid bills this morning. Teacher gave extension on paper today. Worked on homework. Went and had massage and pedicure. Lower back, calves, and arch of foot hurt - after reading Mark's post, I'm thinking it's all the barefooting I've been doing. Tomorrow work at the clinic - will have to pick shoes carefully. Oh, almost forgot lost 4 pounds over the weekend, even with all the wine!

Up after about 5 hours of sleep. Working the clinic today and class when I get done. Hope I don't crash and burn without my nap! Mom had a bout of A-fib that has left her exhausted, as she can't sleep laying down. Dad had a cardiac MRI due to a "spot" on his heart (he had a quad by-pass about a year ago). Feel like everything is happening at the same time. My traveling isn't going to end this year as hoped. The search committee for the university will not even meet until the end of August. So, since faculty appointments will have been made by then, the position will not start until January. I'm feeling like a gerbil on the wheel and really need to get some good news soon. Oh and just for fun had a reaction to something and woke up with hives today. Okay, that's it no more bad things allowed!

Sorry to hear about your parents, I hope that gets resolved quickly. I went through that with my mom a short time ago. No fun. Sending good wishes your way!

Moms labs came in okay. Still waiting for Dads results. Slept about 4 hours up 2 down for 2 more last night. May need a power nap today - we will see. Doing laundry as I get to pack to leave tomorrow for 12 days. I just got home last Thursday late and here I go again. then I'm home for 12 days and gone for 10 again. The only month I'm not traveling is November. Was going to have to take the car in for an oil change today also, but DH got up early and took it in for me. I've got to finish a paper and a presentation for class tomorrow in between everything else today. Also a trip to the grocery to stock up the fridge for while I'm gone. Same ole routine!

Thanks Siobhan. I'm packed, got an extension on the paper and all other errands/chores done. Two squares of ghiradelli 86% chocolate and a glass of Chardonnay to wind down. Then off to bed to get up at 0500!

So, I'm up after a 4 hour sleep. So much easier to just go with the flow rather than fight it!
