  • Slept great despite some convoluted feedback on a presentation and a less than expected (although still passing) grade. I'm trying to chalk it up to another thing to remember when I'm teaching (constructive feedback and rubrics, not subjective grades). Gearing up to put on a pot of chili and bake two non-Paleo pecan pies (I just don't eat them). Putting some bacon in the oven to nosh on and a pan of eggs to boil for deviled eggs tomorrow. Because of conflicting schedules (DS works 7-noon and DH works his usual 1230 to 1100 pm) my parents and uncle are coming over for chili (they are bringing corn bread - none for me) and gift opening this evening. Tomorrow DH and I will open gifts from each other. Dinner about 1 of ham, roasted root veggies, Mac & cheese (maybe a taste ) veggie casserole, rolls, olives, deviled eggs, assorted sweets (nope not me), and wine. Wishing everyone a great holiday and a joyful new year.

    • Chili was yummy. Company great. Getting up early to shower, put together 2 casseroles, and deviled eggs before everyone comes over.

        • Slept well, up getting stuff put together for meal. Managed to block up the kitchen sink! waiting for dad to get here and fix it. Not as exciting as W&C's fire, but interesting in its own right.

              • Slept great, heard DS leave a bit after 4 and had the thought he's supposed to be off someone must have called in sick. Drinking CWHWCS (coffee with heavy whipping cream and stevia). Thinking about bacon, but I'm feeling draggy today. Probably the two rolls and mac & cheese I ate. Everyone was happy with their gifts. I got the 14 cup Cuisinart food processor from the kids and a shopping trip from DH when we are next near the outlet malls (motivation to stay on track). Cold front came in over night - try not to snort your coffee laughing, but our low was 32 and we are only getting to 52 today. Heater kicked on for the first time since winter before last. I'm thinking I'm just going to kick back today. After DH goes to work may do some tax organizing. It's mindless work that can be done while watching reruns. Hopefully will be feeling back to normal tomorrow.

                  • Didn't do the organizing - I've got to be in the mood. Did very little yesterday. Didn't sleep well, consequently slept late, got up in a funk because I needed to get the short ribs in the slow cooker. Snapped at DH. I'm in my room drinking coffee and trying to restart the morning. Don't have many plans for today. I still have the T word organizing and cleaning out my closet on my list. Both require the right mood. On the plus side the inch I went up in my waist is down to 1/2 inch despite the holiday and my weight stayed the same. I'm easing into LCHF for the new year. Also need to cut back on the alcohol (I know I've said it before). To be successful in that, I will need to identify relaxation strategies to put in place of the wine. Suggestions, thoughts, ideas??? I know it's become a crutch and its time to get rid of it along with the last 30 pounds I'm holding on to. Okay I'm working on cleaning my emotional and physical self that's enough heavy thoughts today.

                    • I'm *thinking* about giving up alcohol for my New Years Resolution. I'm just not sure I really want to. I feel like I drink rum and diet coke to often ............... seems to be about 2-3 weekends a month. When we buy it, we usually have it friday and saturday nights. So, I would say I drink it 6-9 times a month. And I always drink enough to get "very relaxed". The trouble is......... hubby isn't on board with giving it up - at least he hasn't been the other times I've talked about it. I haven't mentioned the resolution thing to him. I know when I have it - my weight loss stalls for at least 4 days. I've done a lot of reading on alcohol in relation to weight loss. Basically everything I've read says if you do one - you can't do the other. So - I'm pretty sure thats going to be my New Years Resolution this year. At least............. until I'm at goal weight - then all bets are off.

                      • I hear you Tomi, its the lack of movement on the scale that's motivating me to stop drinking. I've been doing a lot of reading and thinking about it. I'm shooting for the new year.....

                        • Can't sleep. I've tried lavender, reading, deep breathing, and meditation - no help. I'm now up (dogs are thrilled) drinking a cup of Tazo Calm tea. I don't think I'm worrying about anything - got my grade in the other class and made an A, but am still waiting on the grade on the last paper for the class I took an I in over the summer. I just need a 13/30 to pass the course, so don't think I'm dwelling on that. No idea what the issue is. Thankfully, I don't have to work tomorrow. I could work on my office and might do so if the tea doesn't work. It could be the clutter in my life, or the deep thinking (life goals and changes) I've been doing. I'm not even sleepy.

                          • Up after about 4 hours of sleep. Not really tired, but I'm sure it will hit me later today. I'm going to try and get my closet cleaned up. I'm not going thru clothes today - I don't feel up to it. I need to get stuff off the floor and the shelves dejunked. Baby steps will get it done. Leftovers today. Tomorrow beef shanks - the dogs are loving all the beef bones. I've got a cauliflower I will roast and then make into mocktatoes. Lots of lettuce to use up - too bad I don't really feel like salad.

                            • Blah today. Got my syllabi for next semester (why I'm I doing this again?), still missing 1 grade, had fried chicken for dinner . Hope I sleep tonight.

                                Um, yeah, lots of snorting here. I don't expect to see 52F until at at the very earliest late March, more likely April. But then again, it's all what you get used to. At the end of my 7 months in Afghanistan, when in Sept the temps got down to the low 70s in the evenings, I thought it was really chilly and needed a sweater. The last week here has been highs around -10F, but is much milder the past 2 days, with a whopping 10F. Decent for using the BBQ tonight.

                                I'd gladly trade my winter for yours .
