  • It happened when I was a teenager and even though it broke, I never told my parents (I was afraid they would make me stop). They wondered why I didn't enjoy tromping around NYC that summer! Flash forward 30 years and I had the bone chip and cyst removed and then the following year the cyst that reformed was removed. I have a ball of scar tissue at the side of my foot by the arch. Foot still feels good - hoping the stretches are working.

    • The slow cooker lasagna was more like chunky spaghetti sauce with squash. It was good. Everyone ate it. Up and down last night - never read, but didn't really sleep. Went with DH again. He lifted weights and I walked 25 minutes 3/3 a bit over a mile. We are doing dinner out with my parents tonight.

          • Cool snap came in yesterday. DH and I walked the girls about a mile. Foot feels good. I have to confess my right thumb had a close encounter with the mandolin Thursday. When I changed the bandage at 12 hours post encounter, I was still bleeding. So I've got bactrobaned gauze with a fairly impressive pressure wrap on it since then. Let me tell you showering and washing my hair was interesting yesterday. I'm leaving it on until Monday and then I will change it. And before you ask - yes I was using the guard and the zucchini slipped. Today DH and I are making faux potatoes for the week. I'm thinking fish for dinner and I've got some sweet potato left over and leftover broiled root veggies.

            • Took a nap - feel blah today. I really need to finish my paper, but today just seems like a blah day. Got together the books I need to take week after next. Just sort of aimless today.

                      • Slept okay - up about 2 hours - back to sleep until now. Can tell I've been walking more, as my gluteus maximus are sore - not painfully so, but enough to know. No more slacking today - I've got to get to work and finish the one paper and do the other. I want to get the unpleasantness done and not have it hanging over my head! Making chipotle meatballs in the slow cooker today. DH has to roll the balls as my thumb prevents me helping with that.

Walked 1 1/2 miles with girls and DH.

                          • Thanks Tomi. I've not taken the bandage off since I changed it Friday morning. I want to, but I'm thinking if I leave it alone 72 hours the bleeding should have stopped. If not, not sure of next step as there is nothing to stitch. I thought I was being careful.......guess not as much as I thought. It will be a while before I use it again!

                            • Gave in and changed bandage. Didn't clean, small ooze in one spot. More gauze with bactroban (smaller strip) and a smaller pressure dressing. I'm thinking I will be able to clean and use a band-aide by Tuesday when I go to clinic.

I did something similar a while back - cut myself on a razor. Truly a pain in the arse for a few days. Here's hoping the good primal nutrition will help you heal!
