  • Crazy day! Got 7 hours sleep with 4 hours deep. Got up at the crack of dawn, got ready and drove to new school 2 hours and passing 3 wrecks later I arrived. Meetings for 2 hours. Taught class for 5 hours. Drove home passing 5 wrecks and another 2 hours. Stopped at grocery to pick up a few things. Bought wine - I want wine! Feet ate up, air conditioner is on, watching chopped.....exhausted!

    • Was this the first day teaching at new school? Sorry to hear you had a crappy commute both ways.

      Enjoy the wine! And Chopped is a vice of mine as well. Despite the frequent grainy ingredients, I often learn a lot by watching that show. And we also have Chopped Canada, which is nearly as good, with Dylan McDermot as host and a bunch of top Canadian chefs (including numerous Iron Chef competitors for judges).

      • Yes, first day teaching. A senior faculty sat in. Class laughed, answered questions, much interaction.....I think it went well. Thursday I will leave a bit earlier and hopefully no accidents - the commute should take 45-60 minutes tops.

        I'm having the wine. Will make up the day this weekend.

        • Wow, quite a day, but it sounds as though the teaching went really well

          Hope those accidents aren't so frequent and that was just a one-off day. Yikes!

          • Sent DS a text from Romeo issuing a ninja challenge to get in without making him bark. He laughed and said he would try. I didn't hear him come in last night!

            Slept 8 3/4 hours sleep, 5 1/2 deep, fell asleep in 12 minutes, it says 4 wake ups - I remember 1!

            Today I'm going to do some studying. Then on the way to my massage I will stop at Target for a few things and drop off some boxes at shipping place. Tonight dinner is roasted pork loin, potato, salad. Will shower and wash hair for tomorrow tonight, so I don't have to get up as early. I also need to prepare my lecture for tomorrow.

            Legs are a bit sore. Not only from stair sprints, but I stood for almost 5 hours yesterday. Today I will do some arms and maybe some hula hoop for core. Hoping weigh in next Sunday shows some improvement.

            • 50 wall push-ups and about 5 minutes of weighted hula hooping. Taking it a bit slow, because I need to be able to move tomorrow.

                • I love wall push-ups! Thanks for the reminder. Will get on those tonight

                  Glazed pork sounds yummy too. I really should try and find some new recipes this weekend, especially for sauces, marinades and dips; but when the sun shines I just end up pottering in the garden

                    • Up, can't go back to sleep. 4 1/2 hours sleep, 2 1/4 deep, asleep in 31 minutes, woke 1 time. No nap yesterday, should have slept well. Had caffeinated iced tea with dinner - probably the issue!

                      As soon as I get off MDA, I'm making coffee and working on today's lecture. Pre-made presentation is too long, as I only have about 35 minutes. Three of us lecturing and 40 minute test. Have got to make up test 2 and blueprint today. Ideally I will get test 3 done also. The good thing is, I'm lecturing on the same chapters the next class session in July, so once my lectures and the tests are done I'm good.

                      I've got to start studying for multiple choice comps. They are coming up fast! I scheduled them for 7/18. Hopefully will get feedback on prospectus by this weekend, so I can make major changes. I've had some time to think and reflect and now have a better idea where I'm going. Need to do a bit more research, but want some committee feedback before I start rewriting again.

                      • Have you thought about what you will when you are no longer a student? Think about all the time you'll have to do FUN stuff!
                        1. Love ME no matter what noises are screaming at me, or who is trying to tear me down.
                        2. Eat to heal
                        3. Move to live
                        4. Embrace today
                        5. Live with intention
                        6. Respect my body
                        7. Cultivate joy
                        8. Find my passion
                        9. Meditate on peace in my soul

                          • Drive today was better about 45 minutes both ways. Will be meeting with a couple of students next week due to subpar test grades. I'm enjoying teaching face to face!
