    Laughing about Sio's "huge" 3 lb slow cooker roast...around here, that might possibly leave a tiny lunch portion or two as leftovers, or perhaps not any at all, depending on the day. But of course, it is the same in your house .
    So at first I read this and thought why is Shilo cooking a roast........then remembered it was Sio. yup, I need a much bigger roast to feed the carnivores at my house.

    Thanks for the office feedback and encouragement on body weight moves.

    • One of my friends married a man with three teenage boys. They could easily go through 5 lbs. of meat at any given meal. She spent $600 a week on groceries, and this was in the early 90's. Even feeding them pasta a couple of nights every week! They were really good kids, though, and all turned out great.

      • When the boys were all home I had a $600/month grocery budget. I'm ashamed to think about what I fed them to meet that budget. In my defense, I was following CW.

        • I do know that grocery prices are less in the US than here, but with hubby & I plus 2 manchildren and most of the time son #2's girlfrend (who doesn't eat much), and the boys eating cereal, milk, bread and the like, I spend over $250 weekly easily on groceries. Of course that includes stuff like tp and toiletries and laundry soap, but still. In some ways, I look forward to having only 2 of us at home someday. Maybe in 2 or 3 years when we have to move next.

          • Slept 9 1/4 hours with deep edging out light by 15 minutes. Feel good. Having CWCC (have to take with me if I get up to prevent Shilo from sharing!)

            Picking up CSA box, apple cider vinegar, and an Italian hostess pack (eggplant, squash, tomato, herbs) today. Then lunch with friends.

            Dinner will be crispy chicken thighs with assorted veggies and probably rice for the boys.

            This weekend is the last of my break. My comprehensive exam (multiple choice) prep course starts Monday. It's open, so I've organized homework already. The exam must be completed by 8/10, but I'm going to do mine 7/18, since my proctor is in El Paso. My nursing specific comprehensive exam (3 essays) arrives 5/16 and has to be turned in by 6/6. Masters (on-line) and doctoral (face to face once a month) classes I'm teaching for old university start 5/19 and the undergrad research class for new university (Tuesdays & Thursdays face to face 11-1600) starts 6/3. It's two 5 week sessions so the first group finishes 7/3 and the second group runs 7/8 to 8/7. So I'm busy getting the on-line courses put together and the face to face classes pulled together (syllabus, student resources, PowerPoint presentations). Then just for fun the syllabus for my fall class is due 8/4.

            In case you think there is no fun allowed this summer, DH and I are going to a concert with friends 5/24, which invokes a hotel stay the 23-25. DH's cross county team reunion is 6/27-29 (my birthday) at a B&B in Utopia, Texas. Then for DH birthday we are going to a concert 8/31 and staying at the same hotel 8/30-9/1. So all in all a very busy summer!

              Uncured hot dogs for dinner with cole slaw (getting ready to make with cabbage, heirloom carrots, and radishes from box).

              Today I'm going to do some grading and pay bills.

              • Forums are quiet today! Grading done. Bills moved back to Monday. Dinner was yummy. Leftover cole slaw to go with carnitas tomorrow. Will also make spaghetti sauce for Tuesday's dinner.

                  • I was pretty busy with work and then the concert yesterday, and I deliberately held off on some posting because it is so quiet here on weekends, I feel like no one reads stuff. So unless I have something I want to get off my chest or preserve, I don't post too much. But I'm roaring back now!

                      • Slept 7 3/4 hours with 5 of those light. I knew I tossed and turned a lot. Have a huge pork butt in the slow cooker with salt, onion powder, chili powder, and cumin. Today it's pay bills, spa for pedi & facial, and make spaghetti sauce with insides of eggplant, zucchini insides (I will use eggplant and zucchini shells as boats for sauce), peppers, onion, garlic, mushrooms (all veggies from CSA box), and grass fed ground beef. Of course there will be tomatoes too.

                        • Haha, I think your huge is different than my huge! I still have half of the 3-lb. beef roast I cooked last week. I'm not a delicate eater, but of course everything is relative. In a different household it would have been one dinner!

                          • It's 9 pounds plus ounces!

                            Bills paid. 50 squats and wall push-ups done. Other than spaghetti sauce, this completes my to do list all before 0930!
