  • Here's to lovely DILs. I like to say that somebody else handled diapers, chauffeur duties, and teenage mood swings, and I get to reap the benefits.

No granddaughters in our family yet. Sheesh. The little boys are lovely, but ...

    • Slept well last night. Up for about 2 hours then able to sleep again. No headache or eye goop today, so maybe the antibiotics are winning. Need to run errands today.

      • I realize its been a bit since I mentioned the middle two sons who got in trouble earlier this year. Older of the two is on diversion, has a breathalyzer in his car, is paying off the lawyer, and picked up his two month sober chip at AA last night. He wants to get into college and is thinking about substance abuse counseling as a career choice. So something good came out of the whole mess. Younger of the two got one charge dropped and is on diversion for the DWI. I'm hoping he is staying out of trouble, but he is not as forth coming with details. The charge being dropped is a huge thing, as he can now apply for financial aid for school. The joys of adult children!

        • Errands run. Latte to vet for shots. Then made DH go to the store with me, as I tod him it was the only way the junk he added to my list would get in the cart. Interestingly the boys stuff rang up first and was 70% of the total bill. I got fresh fruit and veggies, almond milk, and Greek yogurt. They got frozen pizza, hot pockets, soda, chips, flour tortillas. I did get two baking potatoes for their steaks tonight. I will have a sweet potato and share braised kale and butter sautéed mushrooms, if they are nice!

          • Kathi, have you ever tried using lavender oil to help you sleep? I got some therapeutic-grade lavender oil a few days ago, and I rub a little on my feet, a little on my hands and arms, and I've slept SO peacefully every night that I've used it!

              • Kids mess up........ at least they are taking responsibility and there are lessons to be learned Yes, the joys of adult children. UGH! I've decided I may need to make like not so comfortable to get my 26 year old (with severe social anxiety) to move forward with his life. Holding down a full time job and paying your own bills is not enough! Time to move OUT!

Do you charge him rent and board? If not it might help.

I'm totally blissed out on grass fed steak, sweet potato, and sautéed mushrooms and onions in butter! Soooooooo good! No complaints from the boys now.

                      • Didn't feel hungry last night after dinner (usually the snack monster shows up, so butter overload must have worked). Had a cup of tea. Slept 6 hours, then read about 2, back to sleep for 4 more hours. I'm not really hungry, I was when I woke up the first time, but ignored it, as I'm not eating at 0400. I'm enjoying a cup of coffee, a lazy morning (well almost afternoon), catching up on everyone's journals. Today I have 2 chapters to read for class, a 1-page synopsis of an article, and a 10 question stats quiz to do. So I've got lots of time to laze around and still get what's on my calendar done. Rainy here. I did get about an hour of walking in yesterday with my errands. I definitely didn't meet my activity or cleaning goals this week! Although in my defense, I ran fever 4/7 days last week, so getting well while staying on track with my eating may have been the bigger win. I've got 1/2 a steak leftover, the skin of my sons potato, 1/2 of my sweet potato leftover. Some kale, Brussels sprouts and salad fixings in the fridge. Leftover pork steak casserole thing for the boys, so I'm not cooking anything tonight. Have the makings for chicken hash and may do a slow cooker of primal chili tomorrow. Okay, enough rambling off to "school." Will check in with all later.

                        • Like you have to apologize for suspending some things when you're running a fever... Seriously, woman! Your top priority was getting back to health, not piling up stressors. I hope you have enjoyed the slower pace.

Bad habit! Always have to be busy. Yes I enjoyed the down time and took more today. I rescheduled all my homework for tomorrow and lazed the day away!

                            • Had the leftover steak (2/3 of the original), about 1/2 sweet potato with butter, and 1/2 onion fried in butter with a glass of merlot for dinner. Probably tea and a square or two of chocolate later. I can't believe I stayed in my PJs all day! Tomorrow back to reality.

I live up north in Utah, Kathi, there's not really any place in Provo I've ever eaten... sorry, can't recommend any place in particular. Hubby and I don't really eat out very often, anyway.
