Thanks. I'm in survival mode the next few weeks! Yesterday the aide helping my mother-in-law into a chair failed to control her descent (she has Parkinson's along with the CA) and she sort of fell into the chair resulting in a broken upper arm. I'm pretty sure it's where the bone cancer is located, but it's an additional stressor here. I can't read how hubby is dealing - he's clammed up and is being Hispanic male stoic.

    • I wonder if your pups have a secret dog name for you. Maybe something like Warmlap Kibblebringer Headpatter.

        • I'm sorry to hear about your MIL's injury. Sounds pretty awful, and as you say just another layer of stress. Poor hubby. Though Lord bless 'em they do not help themselves sometimes. All you can do is be there for when he is ready to talk/whatever he needs.

On a lighter note, much better now I can see the picture at home and really 'meet' the dogs. Gorgeous photo and have to laugh at the comments. I have often wondered what dogs think of when they look at us. I'm sure the emotions for food and play are high up there on the list - gotta love a waggy tail

          • On a role: finished and posted question, reviewed 3 peer questions (need student who only posted one to post the other), posted revised grant and grant reflection. This completes the grant course requirements.

Completed my GYN appointment and got paperwork for mammogram and ultrasound. Will call and schedule when I get back from EP. Doc was impressed by the surgeons work.

            • Love a good 'in-the-flow' experience. Must have been something in the air yesterday because despite a yen to just curl up and watch a film when I got home last night, what I actually did was supervise homework, check the new PhD listings, make packed lunches, clean the bathroom, send an important email and read a journal paper; as well as posting here.

Hope your productivity continues and can free up some of your head space for everything else

              • Thanks AT. I'm contemplating not working on homework today other than last peer feedback as she posted last night. I feel the need to recharge and do other things.

                • Slept 9 hours with deep finally > light! Feel pretty good. I've decided the only homework I'm doing today is feedback on last peer paper. I will also grade 4 student papers. Grocery store will be done in a bit. Massage this afternoon. Also plan to try on clothes for trip since the weather will be mid-70s to 80s while we are there. So a bit of a lazy day today. Dinner will be a bacon wrapped meatloaf that I had made and froze earlier with some rice and broccoli salad. Thinking of Tomi. Hoping surgery went well.

                  • Did some odds and ends. Slacked off on grading and peer review. Massage worked out major knots. Dinner was good.

                      • Sounds like a good day, well deserved and well needed. Hopefully it worked as a good recharge as we know you've much to do. Dinner sounded yummy, but then again, the word bacon does that to most things

Hard to tell. He becomes quite stoic when his parents are involved. He's still eating fairly clean, so maybe that's helping.

                          • Slept 8 hours but light significantly > deep. The difference between last night and the night before was Shilo. Last night he slept in hall with Romeo. Guess I sleep better with him.

Getting ready to do some laundry, do my grading, and scan some paperwork. Then I will spend a couple of hours on my prospectus that's due Sunday. I've got a nap penciled in. Dinner (supposed to be steak, potato - will not have, and salad) at moms tonight. So at home until dinner and chained to computer most of the day. Maybe I will attempt a walk with the dogs. That will be interesting!

That's pretty accurate. If I get up, I have at minimum a 2 schnauzer escort and if they are feeling really needy then a 4 dog escort. I've got to keep an eye on Shilo as he drinks my coffee in the morning.
