  • How was the dinner?

    I must say, despite what you may be thinking, you've had a stellar post op recovery. Fantastic, in fact. I'm impressed that you're back on the road already. Hope you'll be able to find a manageable balance between the schedule and rest time.

    • Salad with blue cheese. Pork loin, potato gratin, broccoli, carrots, ice cream shared among 3 and 2 bottles of red over 4 hours. Lots of talk. Very enjoyable. Off to bed now!

      • Slept okay. Up early. Showered, got ready for class, reviewed presentation notes, and am waiting for time to leave. Hopefully presentation will go okay. Will let you know.

        • Presentation could have gone better. Not my best for sure. Chicken with pesto for dinner. Early to bed, I'm tired.

          • Slept a solid 8 hours. Having doubts about finishing PhD. I mean I totally sucked at the presentation yesterday so I'm sure I got an F. If I get every point left I would scrape by with a low B. Every point is impossible with this instructor, so why go on? Dreamed I bombed tomorrow's presentation also and teacher said, "that's it? That's your presentation?" And I failed that class too. Will explore options today.

              That sucks, it's obviously playing on your mind. Do you know what you did wrong? Can you take steps to ensure it doesn't happen again? Sorry you're bummed out.
              I'm not saying lets kill all the stupid people in the world, I'm just saying let's remove all the warning labels and let the problem take care of itself.

                Yup, I was going to share something personal as experiential evidence as to why my study on violence is important and I lost it (PTSD flashback). I've spoken to my instructor and she has reassured me that I did okay.

                • That sounds rough, it sounds like you were more shaken up than did shit. I'm glad you got some feedback on your presentation. It seems you were giving yourself a harder time than necessary but hey, we all do that. Are the skies a bit bluer or at east a little less grey?

                  • You will want to slap me for this, but you know what? It will be okay. You are a perfectionist and an extremely hard worker and you set goals for yourself that are ginormous mountains that would reduce mere mortals to dust if they even thought about scaling them. It will be okay, it will work out. I'm just an electronic friend, a cyber acquaintance, but I have huge respect for you that has nothing to do with your grades or your Ph.D. Sending good thoughts your way!

                              • Up, can't sleep. Thinking too much. Dinner was steak with roasted potatoes and broccoli. Have some left over for dinner. Need to get some more sleep or class will be difficult today. Last day, thankfully - home Saturday. We finish too late for me to get a flight out Friday. Going to try reading a bit and then hopefully a few hours more of snoozing!
