  • How much have you limited your alcohol to? How often do you imbibe?

    I decided limiting beer will be hard for me to do. I'm a homebrewer!!

    I don't want to completely kick beer from my life.

      When my husband came home and said that's what the local butcher told him it clicked and I said did you hear what you just said...grains to fatten. Now how different is the biology from cow to human? Omit grains lean up?.....lol

      I haven't had a beer or any alcohol for 7 days now....gosh that sounds so temporary. But seriously limiting my beer to a couple per weekend seems to be a good evil. i drink Mich. Ultra. I know it's water, but since I can't have hard liquor ( My body doesn't produce enough of a particular enzyme to process hard/concentrated alcohol) and no red wine and Mich Ultra has only 2.6 carbs per beer, it's nice to sit back and have a couple with the hubs. If we are out somewhere and I happen to be able to get a lager I order one and that's it. But for now it's NO alcohol, just for now. lol

        • 184.5 this morning I have been feeling funky for the last week -
          I believe it has to do with school and the new schedule.
          Respiratory care class is mainly memorization of equations, chemistry and physics. Not too detailed, but it relates to RT.
          Also next weekend we are supposed to do the brain lab we didn't get to do this past weekend. I was kind of bummed about that.
          We did go to the trackside grill and I had a chicken dish (as the fish was breaded) and a salad and double veggies for our sides. DH did really well we did have beer he had 3 I had 1 1/2 then water. it was a good dinner. Saturday after class I made it to the gym and did some weights for shoulders/triceps/biceps not much but just enough for some resistance. Then I walked outside for 1 hour about 2.5 miles. I was pooped.
          Planned for today
          b - cottage cheese + blueberries +strawberries
          s - boiled egg (if snacky) or grapes
          L - squash/zucchini + about 1/2 cup chicken salad
          S - yogurt for after lunch
          D - TBD but probably gonna be scrambled eggs

          I would like to go walking today I am trying to get in touch with my friend to see if she'd like to go with me. The sun has been setting a lot sooner that usual marking the begining of my favorite season.

          I have decided to go Christmas shopping early this year to avoid the rush - DS is already hitting me up for xmas. lol.

          • Christmas??????? I'm still clinging to the last threads of summer! Please don't be Fall yet!!!! As I was doing my hour walk yesterday I was watching the leaves falling and blowing around the streets. I SO HATE FALL! I'm a Springtime girl! Everything comes back to life and is warm and active and lovely! Fall makes me sad............... But, I've lived through 51 of them - and here comes 52! I just get through Fall and Winter knowing that SPRING is coming!

            Funny how we all have our different favorite seasons...... Relish the changing colors and chill in the air on your walk today!

            • My favourite season is the current one, for about half of it or a bit more, then it's the next one.

              So bring on fall! The trees are starting to turn colour early this year, probably stressed out from the summer drought. But most of them are still green. We are going to get a couple of days of summer weather here, with cool nights, which is a wonderful combination. And then a series of days peaking at room temperature with low humidity - blessed relief from mugginess! We have a major river in this town, which means even in drought, the summer weather is very sticky. Even with low water levels, that river breathes off a lot of water vapour!

              CM, I'm thinking of doing my shopping early this year too, to free up the pre-Christmas season for travelling and socializing. But in a pinch I go out and buy gift cards at the last minute.

              • Christmas is very simplified now in our family. For our grown children - we give them money - since they are all struggling young people trying to find their way into adulthood. My side of the family, which is my mom and 3 sisters plus our children, quit exchanging gifts about 20 years ago. Hubby's side of the family used to do the "pick a name" thing - but about 5 years ago we reduced that to only giving stocking stuffers. Mind you, when hubby's family gathers....... we are 27 people! Thats a lot of stocking stuffers! As a few of the young newly married ones were having financial difficulties - we opted to forego the stocking stuffers as well. So our Christmas gatherings have NOTHING to do with gifts - and everything to do with food and enjoying the company! Last year we didn't buy one single christmas gift. Not good for the economy....... but GREAT for our budget!

                • Oh Tomi! I can't wait till the day someone actually realizes that Christmas is one of the most commercialized, and nonsensicle money spending Holiday there is ( I think Halloween, Easter and 4th of July run a close second )

                  It's all in fun at my family's gathering we do a chinese exchange. Everyone brings a gift and everyone leaves with one. We also serve Hor Douvers for dinner so it's nothing fancy. We all have a blast, son't have to worry about a sit down mess and we can socialize a little more. There are about 40 people in this house (it's my aunts house she is a pharmecists and her husband is some big time history person and they have a huge house) I had to actually count them on paper lol

                  Now at my DH family's house. I can't wait to get it over with. It's just his family usually aroun 15 people. His mom does a BIG breakfast and everybody goes over there and they start nagging on each other and being rude and I just want to get out of there - about 2 years ago they started drawing names for the xmas list but instead of putting the grandkids in one list and the adults in another they put them all together and you are supposed to write down a couple of things you want on the card. (really) I just put gift card to where ever. usually CATO or A grocery store. If they really wanted to get me something they could start with a bottle of wine and give it to me that morning. Then I would be really grateful.

                  JUDG - My favorite season is Fall because of the weather and the colors. I am a warm colors kind of gal. I like to snuggle up next to a window and watch the snow with a cup of tea and a blanket with my puppies on my lap. (and believe me they are on my lap lol)
                  Tomi - I like Spring too, but just the first part when the flowers are blooming. (the camera comes out in full swing then)

                  Speaking of camera I am gearing up to take my son's Senior casuals I did my step daughters and she loved them so DS asked me to do his as well. cool with me saves me $500 sitting fee.

                      • Thank you - it was an all day project she had 6 outfit changes and 6 locations we had about 600 photos for her to sort through. That was a big ordeal. because I did them people expected to get the pictures for free (like outside our family) It saves me money to do the kids pictures, but I don't get them for free.

                        I told my son that he was going to have his photos done by me or he could get his dad to chip in for the cost. Hence, me doing the pictures. I will send his dad a link to order pics and that's about it.

                        That's a whole other situation I won't get into on here. It's not that he doesn't care, he just doesn’t like the inconvenience.
                        Anywho I am IF’ing today till probably about 6pm tonight which will be about 22 hours – I did have coffee this morning but I drink mine black, so I am on water for the rest of the day. I always seem to kick my downward trend in the ass when I IF. I’ve been at 184-186 since July 22 so it’s time to get things rolling again. It will be nice to have a wonderful salad for dinner and maybe a glass of wine, and be able to savor it. I always find things taste better after an IF day. The IF usually lasts about 22-23 hours 23 hours is the longest I’ve gone. I enjoy my newfound love of veggies and meat too much to let it go. lol.
                        I never exercise when I fast. So today is a day off. AHHHHH FRIDAY.

                        • Happy IFing for the day! as my clock says 12:30 --- yours must say 3:30 .......... so that salad and glass of wine must be starting to whisper sweet nothings in your ear! Enjoy!!!

                          I'm not sure if IFing does me any good or not. I tried it a couple times, not really by choice as much as it just sorta happened. There seems to be a lot of controversy and discussion about the benefits of IFing for women. But obviously it works well for you so .... here's to seeing a drop on the scale!

                          • I find for myself that stalling eating till later in the day works very well for me. I rarely eat before late morning, and sometimes go till mid-afternoon. Really, I only have a normal time breakfast if I'm going out.

                            • Thats pretty much my eating schedule too, Judg. I eat something before I have to go to work in the afternoon - usually bacon or eggs. Then after work I will have a small snack of almond butter or carrots and then dinner is normally between 7 and 8. Mostly because hubby works late. It works well for me too. I like to delay breakfast as long as possible.

                              • Well, technically, you're IFing then...

                                I think on that issue, we have to find what works best for us as individuals. Last time I tried eliminating food for the whole day (making it about a 40-hour fast) I found it very tough. So I've backed off for a while. I might try again when it more or less comes naturally. It has worked for me in the past.

                                Sounds like it works very well for you, CM. Have you been doing that kind of thing long?
