    LOL! Odille, just finished a decaf cappuccino... with honey. And yeah, I'm getting sleepy.

    LBF, you're on. I might try one tomorrow morning.

    Anyway, I'm getting eager to get to bed. So I'll file my report, and check the other journals tomorrow morning.

    Sleep: Woke in the middle of the night and couldn't get back to sleep. Stayed in bed well past my alarm as a result.

    Weight: 155.2. New low. Woot!

    Food
    Breakfast: Gr. yogurt, slivered almonds, blackberries, flaxseed, hempseed
    Lunch: Didn't bother
    Supper: 2 scrambled eggs, raw broccoli and red peppers
    Snacks: trail mix, slice of roast pork, decaf cappuccino

    Exercise: walking between bus stops, and with grandkids. Maybe a mile.

    Activities: Playing with grandchildren, 2 major cross-town bus trips

    Despite two nights of sub-standard sleep, I have been able to go out two days in a row (something I don't normally do on good sleep) and live to tell the tale.

      Yet another new number on the scale! Wow. Primal has sped up my weight loss, for sure.

      I'm planning on doing garden work today, so not a day for wearing new clothes. Went to my reward drawer and took out a pretty sleeveless blouse I will wear to church tomorrow with a cardigan. It took me all blasted winter to get to that blouse. My weight loss had slowed to a crawl and threw all my clothes plans out the window. Might have to buy me some white pants (that will be a first in a gazillion years) so it doesn't look too wintery. Maybe a trip to the thrift store without telling hubby, LOL! I don't want to buy summer clothes that I'll only wear one season unless they're really, really cheap.

          Oh yes it is. The pants and skirt in there are now wearable, but only with something very loose over top to hide the muffin top. Don't have many loose tops anymore. But they are going to look awesome once I shrink into them. They are still in the drawer for now.

            I love your reward drawer so much that you have inspired me I now have a reward 'box' with all of the clothes that I can fit but they are tight!! So every 5 lbs should net me a reward!! What a fun way to celebrate each milestone.. I absolutely adore this idea and I am sharing it with my other group too giving you the credit

              LOL! Thank you. I'm thinking I might have to space mine out to every two pounds if this quicker pace keeps up. Otherwise it could get expensive... My current weight is my lowest in more than 25 years, so I'm afraid I don't have any former skinny clothes waiting for me. I have to buy them all new.

                Yeah, loosing so much weight has cost me a capital but I like the clothes I can wear now!

                  Funny, I was just thinking that I would love to rock a pair of white jeans - which I haven't worn in 30 years - and I saw your post! I'm going to the thrift store on Monday. I have two great thrift shops right across the street, can you believe that?

                  I have a blouse in my closet that I can't wait to wear in about 5 more lbs. Maybe I should hang it in the kitchen?

                    The Op shops are my source of clothes - you can get such stylish stuff. But I have closets full of samller sizes to go down to - it is exciting to get into them though.

                      Ain't it the truth? I try to shop clearance racks as much as possible and pick things up before I can fit into them (if I don't need them right away). But yes! It is so much fun to wear clothes that we actually like, not just to hide ourselves.

                      Lucky lady! White jeans are a big item this year. So are bright green and red and fuschia, but I think white is as far as I care to go, LOL!

                      Op shops? Is that Aussie for thrift shop, i.e. used items?

                        Today was a busy day outside, and I really didn't feel like cooking much. So I turned leftovers into a variation of pulled pork for one meal, and had my veggies for another meal. Bigger helpings of each, so it comes out much the same in the end. I still haven't got my act together enough to have all the ingredients for a BAS ready to go ahead of time, and I'm finding eating this way requires doing a lot more cooking than I'm used to, particularly with someone around eating up my leftovers! DS says he could be moving out soon, but then hubby will be home and nothing will change on that front.

                        Sleep: About 11:00-6:30, only woke up once

                        Weight: 154.4 !

                        Food
                        Breakfast: 3 coconut almond pancakes with apple butter. Slight allergic reaction. I think it's the coconut. Uh-oh...
                        Lunch: Pulled pork made without any sweetener
                        Supper: Stir-fried zucchini with red onion and sesame seeds. And soy sauce. Mea culpa.
                        Snacks: Blueberries with cream and maple syrup. Definitely not Paleo, but great. Just a dribble of syrup, really.
                        Drinks: black coffee, water, tea

                        Exercise: Hours of gardening

                        Activities: Hours of gardening , load of laundry, cooking. Kitchen is a mess, LOL!

                        I'm pretty worn out, so I'm going to try to go easy for the rest of the evening.

                        After my mea culpa on the soy sauce, anybody have a good idea on how to season the zucchini without it? My brain was mush when I got to it, and I couldn't think of anything. This is one of my favourite ways of eating zucchini, so I would really like to find a good way to primalize it.

                          How's maple syrup not paleo? I'd assume it to be a less than ideal food on paleo but it does come from a maple tree if it is true maple syrup... nothing fake about that.

                          Now if it's like aunt jamima's corn syrup that's different...

                            I lived for 15 years in the heart of maple syrup country (the next-door county was even named Maple County); they would have killed me if I stooped to Aunt Jemima's. It fits with Primal, I think, but the cream and sugar not so well with hard-core Paleo. Aw.

                            I'm not interested in being hard-core, I'm interested in being healthy. In my own personal version of this lifestyle, it's grains that I am hard-core about. My theory is I'm one of those people who has an undiagnosed intolerance of grains, and that cutting them will push my health in the right direction. I might test dairy later, we'll see. As for sweeteners, I figure I want to get off the blood sugar roller coaster, so I try to have modest amounts and taken with other foods. Unprocessed is better. Just discovered that apple butter (just apple sauce cooked down till it's thick and sweet - one ingredient only) goes really well with the Greek yogurt. *sigh of happiness*

                              Health journal May 6, 2012

                              Sleep: About six hours. Couldn't fall asleep at night, nor back to sleep in the morning.

                              Weight: 155.4

                              Food
                              Breakfast: 2 home-made almond cookies, banana with almond butter, black coffee
                              Lunch: Lamb, tomato sauce over sweet potatoes with Romano cheese, roasted red peppers, boiled chicory greens (seconds of the veggies, of course), one massive strawberry and a handful or two of red grapes. Followed by a cup of espresso with honey
                              Supper: My Greek yogurt mix with strawberries and walnuts. And pure apple butter for a sweetener. Yum. Hey, don't look at me like that. I didn't feel like cooking...
                              Snacks: One slice of nitrite-free ham. A thick slice off a picnic ham, not a deli slice. Didn't get much meat at lunch, so I was compensating. I often do that for snacks, actually, stop and think of what I've been short on in the day, and load up in that department.

                              Exercise: Walked to church. Walked from inlaws' place back home. Total a good hour. Plus a very lively worship session at church, LOL! We were rocking it...

                              Activities: Church, quiet lunch at in-laws' (none of the young people showed up this week)

                              Today went pretty well, all told. I rested as quietly as I could after getting up this morning, in order to be able to face another fairly active day on short sleep rations. I'm quite amazed I was able to pull it off, considering the last few days, I normally would have just opted to hunker down and stay home. I'm only moderately stiff from all the bending and stooping I did yesterday and that only in my thighs, another pleasant surprise. Makes a big difference when you're packing so much less of a load and walking faithfully, it seems. When I got home late afternoon, I let my son talk me into watching a movie (I usually don't or bail partway through), partly because I could tell I needed to rest. Like Eskimos and their umpteen words for different kinds of snow, I've become quite the connoisseur of kinds of fatigue. This was the kind I could feel in my head and wasn't too serious, but if I pushed myself, it could turn into something nasty. So a movie kind of hit the spot.

                              And I was very happy to be wearing my reward blouse today. Let's go, baby! I want to get to that pencil skirt! Man, first one in decades...

                              Weird, the only person who has noticed my new glasses (or at least has commented on them) is my live-at-home son. And I thought I looked so radically different... Goes to show you that nobody else really obsesses over our appearance anywhere near as much as we do.

                              Back to the central point of this journal, although feeling a little tired, I am still chipper and cheerful and looking forward to tomorrow. Taking into consideration the frantic pace of my life the last few days (I know, I know, but in my frame of reference, that is frantic) I should be wiped and actively trying to hide from the world. It has been one of my cardinal rules over the last couple of years at least to avoid leaving the house two days in a row, sometimes for longer if I'm sleeping badly. And yet I've been grocery shopping, playing with toddlers, gardening all day (in slow motion admittedly, but I still kept going) and then not having to bow out of any Sunday activities. Wow.

                              Oh, a friend at church has lost 30 pounds over the last year. She said when she saw what I had done, she believed she could do it too. It really is true about ripple effects. So cool. Now I'm telling her about cutting grains. She has so many health issues, fibromyalgia and CFS prime among them, but with a couple of other nasties with it. She had to quit working years ago.
