  • Aah you two gave me a good giggle! Tee hee - no-one realising you were dressed up. Well, honestly, I bet a lot of their mom's wear pretty wild outfits compared with your hip granny look! I think that must have been so cute though! Wish I could have seen you!

I bought a couple of bags of chocolate (plain hershey's, almond hershey's) to give out, and no-one came to the door! Now I have candy sitting in the cupboard just begging to be tasted. I am going to have to give it to someone and soon or I know that as soon as a tempting moment arrives I will probably cave! So not going there!

    • Quick, Coll -- take the candy to a neighbor - or give it to the mailman!

Here's my trick when tempted by those nasty little candy bars......... FACT: every full sized candy bar is allowed to have 9 rat hairs in it (FDA allowed). Yummy! ................. no thank you. I'll have a bowl of streamed veggies and dip them in ranch dressing before I'll eat rat hairs coated in gooey chocolate.

Now........... I don't have PROOF of this "fact" - but I read it somewhere many many years ago - and its still hanging around in the sensibility vault of my brain. It works 90% of the time to keep the candy bar out of my mouth. I'll do a bit of research and see if I can find if there is any truth to this little "factoid".

ROFL! Too true. Still, I think some people think I'm weird now. Those glasses were kind of over the top...

I had more kids come than I expected, so they not only cleared out the chips I had bought, but put a serious dent in the bags of Werther's that my hubby keeps buying. The remaining two are unopened, and I can resist unopened things for a ridiculous length of time.

Rat hair... yikes! I hope the laws are different here. Ours are often a little stricter.

          • Well, despite the fact that I completely blew my leptin reset yesterday, I edged lower today. Mind you, I didn't overeat by any stretch of the imagination, but I had had a bad night, so I started too late to be able to fit three meals in, and I was sick of eggs and coconut oil, so I started with yogurt and berries and fixings, and finished up with a low-protein meal. Late. So I woke up hungry, predictably, and a wee bit lighter than I have been. That's encouraging.

Anyway, back to re-leptining today. Two fried eggs with salsa and some cappicollo for breakfast, and I'd better go snack on some coconut oil. I have a pear that's begging to be eaten, but I don't think it fits the programme too well, so I'll cut it up and freeze it for a future smoothie.

I'll check in on all your journals later. I have been undisciplined, and I have things I have to catch up around here before I can justify some leisurely surfing. Take care all.

              • Fish stew for lunch and I am blissed out. It really is so much better made with butter instead of vegetable oil. *insert sigh of contentment* And so simple and fast.

I can now give a tutorial on how to wreck your cast-iron frying pan. Don't ask. Fortunately it had nothing to do with lunch... And why is it that the smoke detector will go off when a bit of fat burns in the oven and ignores the situation when there's smoke all over the place? Sheesh...

ETA: What do you guys do with canned tuna besides salad? I'm looking for an interesting new idea or two. All my old ones involved grains... Hmm, tuna casserole with veggies instead of macaroni? Thoughts?

                • mmmm........... i love tuna! We can our own when we are fortunate enough to be gifted with enough of it to can.

I've had the same problem - what to do with the tuna if you aren't going to make a sandwich or a casserole? I've used it to make chowder - VERY yummy! I put it on salad - just plain, or mixed with mayo. You could use it for lettuce wraps with the mango salsa I mentioned in my journal. EASY PEASY....... mango, cilantro, red onion, cucumber - chopped nicely! Its wonderful!

I'm anxious to see what others have to offer cuz I still have a few jars of home canned tuna to use up!

I use zucchini rounds as crackers and top with tuna mixed with mayo and dill relish. I also "stuff" celery sticks with the same mixture. Sometimes I add yellow mustard into the mix.

At least the salad was really good... Feta and olives and walnuts and veggies. You can always tell when DD is eating here...

Thanks! It feels like slow going but it does tend to slow down as you get closer to the goal. Two pounds a month is still a decent rate, I figure. It's weird though, because I was feeling so bloated and fat yesterday. As I am now, but that might have something to do with the prodigious amounts of salad I ate. Lots of greens at least, so it should be more volume than calories.

That is a great idea for snacking! But hey, why not for a meal? Just have a whole bunch...

I am blissing out over the organic veggies that are landing on my doorstep every two weeks. It makes such a difference just to be getting things fresh-picked from the farm. And they pre-wash almost everything. The head lettuce, obviously not. I had to wash my red lettuce (poor baby) but could hardly believe how crisp and beautiful it was. You never see it like that in grocery stores.

                          • That sounds lovely Judg! I am contemplating joining a local farm CSA for organic produce next year. I can grow quite a bit usually, but with us probably moving sometime in the new year to a new place, it might not be the most productive summer. We like zucchini chips for putting all kinds of things on - salsa, guacamole, etc etc. I have not tried it raw - I'll have to try it with the family and see if it gets a thumbs up or no. You just never know
