    • Are you feeling better Judg? Hopefully you have completely kicked whatever bug was around right out. But, anytime there is any issue with tummy stuff I recommend kefir! Excellent for straightening out excess bacteria or not enough friendlies in the gut. Congratulations on the new comments It is going to be a loooonnnng time before anyone could conceivably tell me to slow down on the weight loss! That is wonderful! Enjoy it - you have worked long and hard for what you have accomplished!

                • Sorry, people. I did mean to get online to say I was going offgrid, but I just didn't have time. We were in Montreal for the week (had a very good time while I was there, although I've had enough restaurants to last me a long while), and had family activities bracketing the trip, plus all the laundry and preparation. Little kids underfoot, birthday parties, all that kind of stuff.

Yes, my stomach did get better, thanks for asking.

I'm sure I put on a bit of weight while I was gone, but not too terribly bad. I'll have the nerve to check in a couple of days, LOL! I did do some cheating, but it was relatively minor, so I'm not feeling too bad about it. I do think a leptin reset will be a good idea though - all in all, I think I got too many carbs. But I now have a stretch of relative quiet ahead of me, so hopefully it will all come together. Meat and veggies and not much else for the next week!

Reconnected with a number of people I've known for more than three decades, which was very nice, and a couple I just met recently, which was also very nice. I also spent two very happy afternoons at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. The first day I went to the special Impressionism exhibit (only stop in Canada, so I was so happy to be able to see it) and the next time I went to the Quebec and Canadian galleries, to check out two of Quebec's most famous artists. I had lived in their home turf for a good 15 years and never seen their work. I was very happy with that too. Marc-Aurèle de Foy Suzor-Côté and Alfred Laliberté, for those of you who are interested.

Isn't it funny how those sneaky carbs work their way back into your diet?

                      • It was an exhibit of Impressionist paintings (and a sculpture or two) from the Clark Institute (?) in Virginia. One of the friends I met said she had seen it in Paris. Lots of Renoir especially, some Cézanne, Dégas, Monet, Manet, a wee bit of Gauguin, Sisley, Berthiot, Cassals. I had seen the ads in the Metro on the way to lunch with a friend and was thrilled to find out the exhibit was currently running and also very close by.

I am not exactly a connoisseur, and am certainly not an artist myself, but I do enjoy going to museums and galleries. I like to look at a piece of art, and see what it is saying to me and what I can notice. Then I read the blurbs and see if I picked up on any of the same stuff myself. I am so pleased when I "got" it. Most modern abstract art leaves me cold though, with some notable exceptions. I still fail to see the point of a large rectangle of stripes. Barely rates as a placemat, as far as I`m concerned. But I will save you that rant...

On the culinary level, trying my first sushi was great. Even if I ate the wasabi in one mouthful. I thought it was avocado... It was like setting off fireworks in my nose. Oy. I had even asked the friend who was hosting us how I was supposed to eat those things... Do you think he was setting me up? LOL! Also had some good lamb gyros, which I hadn`t had in decades.

After all my crowing about how easy it would be to travel with my resistance bands, I went and forgot them at home. So I tried doing the primal movements, and was astonished to find I did best with the pushups (wall pushups, but did the full number). I was kind of sore afterwards in the shoulders, so I think I'll go back to the resistance bands for now. Did some walking too and some staircases. I tried running up some stairs, and my legs gave out before I was even puffing, which astonished me. Is that I sign I have pushed myself way out of ketosis? My carbs have probably been high, with a bit too much fruit and a bit of sweets. And a bit of rice. I'm not sure. But I really was surprised.

DS gave me some kefir grains again. Had about half a cup this evening and have started a new batch. What do you guys do with kefir besides drinking it straight?

No kidding. A little rice here, a chocolate dip with my fruit salad, cappuccinos with honey there... Nothing earthshattering, but it adds up.
