Glad you liked it. I make it several times every summer.

A bit. The cold is working its way through the normal progression. The sore throat is gone, but I'm still kind of dragging. Looking forward to feeling better. Hubby made breakfast this morning.

Is your husband still a pastor? I would think that would be a lot of responsibility for both of you.

It's a good day. For the first time in two years, I'm not in a state of panic about that phone ringing. I wonder where it is!
Snow on the ground indeed! We are sweltering! Yesterday in the high 80s. Today is cooler, but the humidity is so high, it doesn't feel much better.

No, hubby has been a professor for more than a decade now. And he was out of the pastorate for a few years before that because of health concerns. That's when he got his doctorate. Not an obvious thing to do with a house full of kids.

Glad you're destressing over the phone. There is something wonderfully liberating about drawing a line in the sand.

      • And now for yesterday's report. It was a pretty slow day. Hubby and I were watching Youtube clips of a marriage seminar in the evening: absolutely hilarious and so much of it was spot on! Mark Gungor, if anybody's interested. We just heard of him yesterday.

        Health journal May 21, 2012

Sleep: 9 hours. NyQuil was involved...

Weight: 155.8 Rats. Not budging downward.

        Food
        Vitamins: check
Breakfast: Coconut-macadamia "hash". Forgot the eggs in the pancakes. *sigh* Hubby said I shouldn't have told him they were supposed to be pancakes, because he still enjoyed them.
Lunch: "Wraps" with iceberg lettuce, ham, green pepper, sliced dills, hot marinated eggplant, and mayo
Supper: White chili with ground turkey, peppers, cauliflower (!), etc.
        Snacks: Pear, 2 Brazil nuts

Exercise: Slow walk, bit more than 1km.

Activities: Dishwasher, hand dishes, load laundry, and honestly, I forget.

Well, here's a milestone of sorts. The toaster just got banished to the basement. I just can't justify letting it take up that much of my very limited counter space when I haven't used it in weeks. And I need the room for the big bowl of squash... Is this a primal rite of passage? LOL!

Warning: TMI. I've been constipated for several days, so I'm ignoring my weight. Too much of it isn't really me... I don't know what's causing this. I'm not under any special stress, and I've been quiet at home most of the time. Can't wait till it's over.

I'm starting to feel a bit better. How do I know? I saw a dirty patch on the bathroom floor and got an immediate, compelling urge to do something about it. LOL!

          • Something about putting on good music, filling a wineglass with sparkling mineral water or (de-alcoholized) wine, and preparing a gourmet meal is just sheer delight. Had to set a nice table to follow that up! I don't feel very Grok-like and I really, really don't care. LOL! I primalized a crab and angel hair pasta dish, primarily by using spaghetti squash, which is a great substitute for angel hair or spaghettini.

In case you're interested, I have come to consider an iPod an essential kitchen appliance.

            • *for the constipation - Epsom Salts. About a TB in a glass of warm water --- things will be moving smoothly in a couple hours - without any cramping or urgency.

Glad you're starting to feel better - look out dirt!

              • LOL! OK, will try the Epsom salts, although things did improve today.

The dirt isn't trembling yet, but boy, am I keeping up with the dishes, despite having more people around. I usually try to get other people to do dusting, sweeping, and vacuuming, seeing as I have a dust allergy, and I take first responsibility for dishes and laundry, although DS always does his own clothes.

Anyway, without further ado, today's report:

                Health journal May 22, 2012

Sleep: 8-9 hours. Felt good. No need for throat lozenges or NyQuil

                Weight: X. Not looking.

                Food
                Vitamins: check
                Breakfast: Bacon and eggs (2)
Lunch: leftover squash with a spoonful of white chili
Supper: "Crab" with angel hair "pasta". I didn't check the ingredients on the fake crab when it was given to me. Not exactly primal. Oh well. Just one more package to use up. But it was a lovely recipe, with green onions and tomatoes and good fats.
Snacks: Iced coffee, 20g. chocolate, and, get this, Greek yogurt mixed with onion and garlic powder, salt, and turmeric. Lovely savoury snack to end the day with.

Exercise: Not today. Too rainy for walking and not yet in shape for one of my dancing sessions. When I can breathe better...

Activities: Tidying, changed the bedsheets, 2 loads laundry, cooking, hand dishes (yay! Keeping up so well!), minor errands, visiting with in-laws, minor gardening.

                  • Good morning - well, nearly afternoon in the Pacific NW! Probably afternoon in your neck of the woods! I trust you are continueing on the road to health! Sometimes just having loved ones around can boost the immune system and help things heal up faster.

I RARELY need to Epsom Salts for constipation, as I have to complete opposite problem 99% of the time - but its the best remedy for constipation out there! Tastes a bit funky going down - but sure works good.

Good job on keeping up those dishes! I applaud you! I try to have the kitchen cleaned up before I leave for work everyday, makes coming home so much more pleasant!

Sounds like you are really enjoying having the hubby and the kids around! I hope you have some fun things planned for the weekend. Here in the states, this coming weekend is Memorial Day, a day to remember our fallen soldiers. But basically most people just turn it into the first long weekend of summer and the kick-off to the summer BBQ and camping trips. We will be spending the weekend on the boat. I may or may not have internet access..... depends on if my sister if there and I can sign in on hers. I need to get a smart phone so I can use my own while we are away from home.

Greek yogurt with WHAT? You are much more adventurous than I am!

                    • Have a great weekend, Tomi. Don't worry too much about getting online; sometimes it really does us good to go off-grid.

Trying the Epsom salts, in a small dose. Still dragging a bit here, although the cold is getting better. My family is a bad influence as far as getting to bed early and in a peaceful frame of mind goes. Last night was restaurant and movie. I shouldn't watch movies or TV in the evening; they get my mind ticking and that means not sleeping. Oh well.

It also means I didn't get online to post my day's report, so here's yesterday:

Thanks, KimT. I didn't realize I had lurkers. LOL! Where do you find coconut aminos? They come in a bottle, jar, box?

Crashing a bit today. After grocery shopping, etc, hubby went out to take our grandsons off DIL's hands for a couple of hours. She's due to pop with number 3 any time now and welcomes any break she can get. I decided with great reluctance to stay home. Just too tired to handle wee ones. Not too sure why. Phooey! On the other hand, a very quiet house feels kind of good right now, despite the sticky weather. Haven't dug out our fans yet, apart from the one in the bedroom which I never put away last year. Laziness has its perks. We were supposed to get thundershowers this afternoon, which might have broken the heat, but so far we only have wind. Good tornado weather, when you come right down to it. Hot, sticky, windy. I don't think it's quite hot enough though. Hope I'm right.

                              Okay, now I'm rambling.
