  • Somehow, I usually found the hairballs in the middle of night with my bare feet! That will wake you up quickly - eeww!

That cider sounds really nice - especially with cheese and nuts! Have some for me too Glad BW cat is perking up...

    • I managed to stop at one cider. What a nice treat! (I need more treats like I need a hammer to hit myself in the head with.)

I also got a King Arthur Flour baking catalogue, which I nearly tossed in the recycling at the post office, but brought home for some reason. Lots of primal stuff there! Too much! What, you say, primal in a baking catalogue? Almond, coconut, tapioca flour and starch. Many different types of high quality chocolate in all shapes and sizes. Spices and extracts, again all high quality. Cheese powder - good stuff, not the weird stuff in the grocery store. Dried fruits sans sugar. Nut mixes. Parchment, baking sheets, oven racks. Scales, thermometers, mandolines, food mills. Clotted cream. Several types of coconut, all without sugar. And I don't approve of this - not primal at all - but quite a few decent looking gluten-free mixes - pancakes, pizza, bread, muffins, cake, brownies, cookies. Ancient grains - NO! - amaranth, millet, emmer.

Really, I should have tossed this catalog. Trouble.

      • It's dangerous, that catalog. In my non-primal days it was where I got all of my baking supplies. I'm sure their sales department is wondering what happened to me...

I hope that when I am at my goal weight and concerned only with maintaining my health that I can indulge in some of the more Primal offerings. But not until. The catalogs come and they go right into the recycling bin unopened. I do this with the same bittersweet smile that one gets when seeing a former lover on the street.

        • Got that same catalog today, halfway to the trash I thought of your Brazilian bread and pulled it back

          • Throw it in, Judy! Don't listen to its siren song! It's the road to haitch! Be strong like David, throw it away.

I'm making pork today, the recipe from last Sunday. Seems appropriate for an overcast Sunday. A little chilly, but not bad. I'm relieved, to be honest. I just want to hang out, not do anything.

            • BW Cat seems to be all better. At least he is eating and acting normally. One of the cats apparently tried to bring up a hairball and failed. (No more details) I hope it is all okay, but I am glad to see signs that it is a hairball and things are progressing.

The pork is really, really good. I highly recommend it. Also the squash with browned butter and sage. One of those recipes where 2+2 = 12. I had a delicata squash - just baked it, fried sage leaves in butter and poured over the squash - oh yeah yeah! Also put cumin on the squash. I have finally found a use for cumin! Never have really liked the stuff despite it's trendiness these days. But it was great on the squash.

OK, found it, called it Nasty and tossed.

Well no, I am not kind at all. It was just the truth. And while I have a great deal of respect for the theology of sin, there is also room for the theology of rejoicing. Not very sophisticated, but it goes something like this:

This is the day that the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24
Be joyful at your feast... Deut. 14:16
For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving. I Tim. 4:4

                  So go ahead and rejoice.

                  • That is beautiful, I will!

Another weird thing that probably nobody wants to hear about - last week when I had my carbohydrate frenzy, I definitely got smelly. No that I have got the carbs under control, I don't smell any more!

I've noticed the same thing and I don't have to wash my hair as often.

                      • My hair stays remarkably clean these days. I'm really liking that. Now that I am swimming a lot, I rarely take showers at home - almost always at the pool. Think of the money I am saving on hot water!

BW Cat didn't eat this evening.

                          • +1 on the hairball!! Lol, glad you are getting your money's worth out of your trips to the pool! Not many veggies are not simply great with butter melted over them!

Yeah, I definitely think the carbs have something to do with stinkiness! I'm not missing it.

Garlic still gets through though. LOL!
