Two: looked up Ryan Lochte. Mmmmmm!

Three: not surprised that a bit of cleavage is drawing the guys to your lane. Now, what is HIS journal saying? Heehee.

    • Yet again with the swimming thoughts:

Got a book and a DVD about swimming technique called Total Immersion by Terry Laughlin. I watched only 15 minutes of the DVD and got such good tips that I felt like an entirely new swimmer. Great stuff, I highly recommend it. Imagine how well I will swim after watching the entire DVD!

Going to a party tonight, I'm taking meatballs and marinated mushrooms. Must make sure there is something I can eat! Although it is a barbecue, so I am expecting piles of meat. At least some hamburgers and hot dogs. Even before I went primal I usually did the Scarlet O'Hara before parties. I'm a big eater but I will admit I don't like to make a pig of myself in front of others - at least others that don't already know me.

Made a fire in the woodstove last night for the first time. Does that thing ever put out heat! It will significantly reduce my propane bills this winter. And so easy! This falls into the category "You get what you pay for." I've only had really crappy, old, falling apart woodstoves. This is the Cadillac of woodstoves. Virtually airtight. Also it is surrounded by soapstone panels, which give off significant warmth once they get heated. Of course it wasn't that cold last night but I can tell.

Yep David, I second Judg's motion - you probably can speak for all men on this subject!

      • I love how soapstone radiates. It just seems like one of those things that nature got SO right.

        • Hanging. out with the ex this afternoon. Kinda weird. He is really caring and attentive now that we aren't together. He is out buying me a dark chocolate bar right now. Just treated me to lunch. Hmmmm. He is very appreciative of my new figure.

            • Okay, rice does not agree with me. I used a small amount of rice flour in meatballs to take to a party - I wanted to make sure they wouldn't fall apart. Today I am so bloated and uncomfortable and shall we say the commode is not being used. Must be the rice - I didn't eat anything else that was different. I had red wine, green salad with EVOO/BV, meatballs, grilled hot dogs. No more rice. I might have to test it again to be sure, but I won't be doing that any time soon.

On the bright side, I took the ex to a party and he was a HUGE hit - he can be very charismatic at times and last night was one of those times. My standing among my friends has gone up tremendously. He left this morning to head home, and I went off to church to sing. Went very well this morning! We even got applause, which is of course improper, but happens sometimes when the congregation gets carried away. We did a beautiful job on that song if I do say so myself. And we sang "Moon River' for Andy Williams. I almost cried at the end. Love that song. Also sang a lot of other stuff that was really good.

Wish the pool was open on Sundays. Not for two more weeks! I would really like to swim today.

              • Oh, I wish I could have heard you sing! I love "Moon River." It seems to me, IMHO, that applause would be proper and show how moved the people were by the songs.

Yep, that rice. White rice makes me feel bloated, even if I'm not, and brown rice races through me since I've been on primal:-)

Eggs mixed in with the meatballs will also hold them together. You are good with eggs, yes?

We have pools open today on both sides of the border. But you're probably not even near your Portland -- much less our Portland! Are you near the coast? You could wade along the ocean. I remember doing that when I lived in New Hampshire. The water always seemed to cold to swim in, but I might not have been on the coast during the summer.

                Have a great day!

                • Yep, I had plenty of eggs in those meatballs, but since I was serving them on cocktail pics I REALLY wanted them to stay together. They were good, though. But no more rice. Starting to feel somewhat better.

This summer, due to climate change or whatever you want to believe, the water in mid-coast Maine reached 77 degrees! Hasn't been that warm ever to anyone's knowledge or remembrance. The fish surely did not like it! It's not that warm now, of course.

Haha, I'm not near ANYTHING. I live on the end of a tiny peninsula, very rural.

And I have been on the computer way too much today!

                  • Moon River is indeed a very beautiful song.

We applaud in our church all the time. We are not proper. One of the musicians this morning was a DJ with a scratchboard. That was a first. Before DS went off to college, they had him perform one of his compositions, a rap song intertwined with a well-known worship song. That was also a first. They had never had a rap song during the worship service before. A few people walked out in the first service (mostly older people). A few people cheered in the second service (lots of young people in that one). I was very proud. At other times we have a small classical section backing up the normal contingent of musicians. Our worship pastor is from Uganda, with braids halfway down his back, and a very accomplished musician. Needless to say, we also have a very interesting musical life at our church.

                    • I was wondering how the 'Moon River" went.

Have you ever made meatballs with half beef, half pork? The pork fat really makes them stick together well, without any filler.

                      • Slept like a rock once again. The full moon shone on my for awhile, then it started raining. All in all a very peaceful night. I'm off to swim now. I got the swimming book I ordered from the library, Total Immersion by Terry Laughlin and have read a good portion of it. Can't wait to try the new methods I'm reading about. Hopefully the pool won't be too crowded and I will be able to have a lane to myself to do these wonky new things.

                        Back to work tonight!

                        • Wow! Swimming went great! This book and DVD are almost unbelievable. I've been swimming wrong for my whole life. But I can fix it, it's not even that hard. I can't believe it. I felt like a fish today, and that was just the first exercise!

                          • Well, Mark's 21-day challenge is over, and for me it was quite a success. I started swimming, largely as a result of the motivation I received from the daily posts and hearing and seeing what others are doing. I realized that I would like to be a fish. Except for the part where bigger fish are constantly trying to eat you, I would like to be a fish. I could be in the water all of the time. It would be great. And I would be really healthy. NOT a farm-raised fish. A real wild fish, maybe a salmon.
