    • You know, at some point I am going to have to actually have sex or no one is going to read my journal any more.

      • I read the chimney story both ways...and liked it a lot either way (insert your own actress-bishop joke here).
I like badgers, books and booze, more or less in that order.

          • It is impossible to write about chimneys and salami without double entendre!

              • I wasn't really thinking of him that way, but maybe I should! He has a small hobby farm and chickens and two rescued cats, one from a dump that someone was going to shoot and one with only three legs. Sounds like my kinda guy, huh?

YES. Yes, he does. Have you been looking for love in all the wrong places? A man who drives two hours to sweep your chimney? I think I echo the whole internet when I say: start thinking of him in this way.

                    • Well, I didn't take it personally that he drove two hours to sweep my chimney because he also drove way, way farther to pick up and deliver a playhouse for another co-worker's grandchildren. I just thought he is the kind of person who does nice things. But I'm completely stupid about these things. I'm absolutely clueless about other people's motives and especially male people's motives. No red flags other than he is quite a bit older than I am - not necessarily a red flag. He is in good shape and looks younger than his true age. (He did just climb onto my roof with no trouble.)

Oboe ADORED him. Animal people will understand that this carries great weight. Slim Cat loved him too and even fell asleep when he was here. (Slim normally keeps an eye on visitors, he is very territorial.)

I think we all need that in a partner. And your cats like him. I say he's a go-er.

                          • Will one of you call him up and ask him if he is interested in me? Cuz I don't think I have the nerve.

                            • I like Captain Awkward for lessons on using words and helpful scripts... I still have a lot to learn, but I'm getting better.

How about you call him/corner him at work and say...

Thanks again for helping me out the other day, that was really lovely of you. I never thought that cleaning and fixing a chimney could be so much fun! Actually, I enjoyed having lunch and chatting - it was great to get to know you better. Would that be something you'd be interested in repeating?

                              • If I write pretty small, I can fit that on the inside of my forearm!

Or I could record it on my phone and play it next time I see him. Which is less geeky?
