  • Have managed to get a buzz on...this is unusual for me because I have both lost my taste for alcohol (wine) and my ability to drink any amount of it (i.e. 3 oz. is a lot). But tonight I got down about 12 oz. Wheeeeeeee! Not that this is a great accomplishment, in fact the inability to drink alcoholic beverages is undoubtedly positive. But sometimes it is nice to just unwind in such a manner.

    But so tired!

You got to let it go once in a while, just hope you don't feel like poo when you wakes up!

      • Luckily I slept like a log and woke up feeling fine! I don't know exactly when I developed this inability to drink! Sure saves me a lot of money.

Chilly this morning. Woke up with a cat lying against my back, purring madly. Made a cup of tea and got back in bed.

        • Tip for Today

Stop comparing yourself and your life to others and their lives. One very common and destructive daily habit is to constantly compare your life and yourself to other people and their lives. You compare cars, houses, jobs, shoes, money, relationships, social popularity and so on. And at the end of the day you pummel your self-esteem to the ground and you create a lot of negative feelings.

Instead of comparing yourself to other people create the habit of comparing yourself to yourself. See how much you have grown, what you have achieved and what progress you have made towards your goals. This habit has the benefit of creating gratitude, appreciation and kindness towards yourself as you observe how far you have come, the obstacles you have overcome and the good stuff you have done. You feel good about yourself without having to think less of other people.

          • Quote for Today

“To lead people, walk beside them … As for the best leaders, the people do not notice their existence. The next best, the people honor and praise. The next, the people fear; and the next, the people hate … When the best leader’s work is done the people say, ‘We did it ourselves!”

                  • Thanks for all the good quotes and other good musings to help my focus myself this Monday morning! I am going to get some sprints in with my workout this afternoon. Most likely on the elliptical to start with. The only issue with running for me is some lingering bladder control issues (or fear of their re-occurrance anyway...)

                      • Yeah, I need a Like button!

Went to TRX/cycling class and worked ALL my body. My planks are getting better, that is to say LONGER. Then I swam. On my first lap I saw something at the bottom of the pool...something black...with legs...a spider. I told the lifeguards and they gave me a net. I fished it out and was bringing it over to the side and someone said, "What's that?" "A spider," said the lifeguard. Many screams ensued. Running and chaos. No running at the pool! Geez Louise, it's just a spider. I'm not crazy about them either, but really! Well, it was pretty big!

Came home to a large vat of DD's chili. Since I had a fine appetite, it is now a medium vat of chili. SO DELICIOUS! I was hoping it would get me through my work nights this week, but I fear it is not enough. Also a large bowl of leafy greens with BV and walnut oil and some raw carrots.

TRX instructor announced he is going on "The Paleo Diet." I can't help but be skeptical when someone approaches this way of eating as though it is a diet. He regaled us with descriptions of what this entails. I didn't bother shouting out that I have been this way for two years. I wish him luck, though. I want everyone to be paleo!

                            • In Canada, we can't get Kerrygold. I've bought it in the US, and it's nice. Here, I can get this, which is as good if not even better. Funny, on our last posting, I lived about 20 miles from this place and didn't know about it.

Regardless, yes, I do grab a dab of butter from the dish somewhat regularly. Let it melt on the tongue and savor the rich deliciousness. Butter is awesome.
