    • Come do my house too! I spent all morning raking leaves out of the yard I have no energy left for housework! I'm pretty sure we blew the leaves in the fall..I would love to know where they all came from! It will be nice when it's done...eventually!

I acutally have the money saved, but what holds me back right now is the heat here. We are well into the 90's and low 100's now, and it won't get back below 90 until October. Maybe I should wait until then to get one? IDK What a great way to get exercise though. Hills let you get the hear rate up, like sprints, and then you can get lots of slow exercise in between hills. So very primal friendly!! I wonder if I can find a good one used..... Thanks for the inspiration!
Not sure what your schedule is like, Wendy, but getting out in the morning in Phoenix is lovely, particularly if you are anywhere near any of the canal paths. I melt above 100, but when I am forced to travel that way while the heat is on, I often take my bike because bicycling is still very doable in the mornings.

Siobhan, hope you love the bike. I bet you will get used to it in no time.

            • Thanks for the props on the bike, I am sure I will have it down soon. I won't be entering any races though! Not crashing is my goal right now.

Been feeling a little off today and have been lazing around. I should have gone to the pool earlier, that would have woken me up. But now I am off, I want to get to the post office and see if my new undies are here -

                • This is DD's recipe:

                  1kg Beef mince
                  1 Bell pepper finely chopped
                  2 Tablespoons of tomato puree
                  1 Can of lager/beer/cider, etc
                  1 large onion finely chopped
5 or more garlic cloves - crushed.
                  2 Tins of tomatoes
                  Large bunch of coriander
                  1 Carrot, chopped
                  1 Teaspoon of ground coriander
                  1 teaspoon of ground cumin
                  Chilli powder or fresh chillies
                  2 Squares of dark chocolate
                  Oil
                  Salt & pepper

Place the tomatoes, garlic most of the coriander, tomato puree, carrot, ground coriander, ground cumin, chocolate, chilli powder or fresh chillies (to taste), salt & pepper into a blender and blend until smooth.
Fry off the mince in a little oil until brown.
Put the mince to one side and then fry off the onion and pepper until soft.
Return the mince to the pan and add the blended ingredients.
Add the lager/beer/cider etc and simmer for at least 1 hour
After an hour check the seasoning and add more salt, pepper & chilli(es) if needed.
Let the chilli cool and leave overnight.
The next day heat the chilli mixture through.
Serve with rice, refried beans, etc

I've copied it here because I just made it and it ROCKS.

                  • In addition to the chili, I have beef stew in the slow cooker and a steak coming to room temp. I still have a lot of roast beef from last week. I'll be working the next three nights and I have absolutely no excuse for not eating clean, also no excuse for buying really expensive food from the co-op.

Also, I take back my comments about potatoes. I have found that I can eat small amounts of new potatoes, baby potatoes, or fingerlings, or purple potatoes with good effect. So I when I found a bag of them on sale I snapped them up. They are all steamed, in the fridge, and ready to be eaten whenever I feel like it. Also rice is all cooked.

Yeah, you can all come over!

                    • Went to the pool and just had no energy. Swam for 15 minutes and felt like I was going to fall asleep. Couldn't get warm and drove home on this mild sunny day with the heater on. So I took my temp and it is over 100! What's up with that? No wonder I am out of sorts. I must have some kind of infection. But I still managed to do a lot of cooking.

                      • Well, despite having a fever and being really tired I cooked enough food for cruise ship and ate a large supper of steak, potatoes, and salad. Also I had a chili and rice appetizer. Damn, that chili is good. Imagine how good it will be tomorrow! Anyway, I am really, really tired. Going to bed early.
