  • Just made a DD inspired roast beef. I put a whole can of hot chilies in the sauce. It won't make you cry out of your ears but it is mighty tasty. Huge pot, enough for everyone! Dinner at Siobhan's!

    • I was just reading RittenRemedy's journal and it triggered a flashback to a time when I flew the London-Delhi route...those were the days...we flight attendants stayed in a really nice hotel (name escapes me now) - four stars and whatnot. Really nice. When we arrived an army of 'bellhops' would appear to take our bags to our room - once upon a time this was normal but these days it is pretty unusual in most parts of the world. These 'bellhops' were unrelentingly gorgeous Indian men, all of them obviously with some European ancestry. They would escort us to our rooms like we were Queen for a Day, show us our rooms as though we had never seen them before, and then ask, "Can I do anything else for you? Run you a bath? Or perhaps I could come back later?" This is the only place in the world where this happened to me (and my fellow travelers).

Anyway, this is a very long way of saying that if one of those gentlemen turned up at my door right now and offered to run me a bath, I'd jump in the tub before it was full. Although I'd have to rent a hotel room because I don't have a tub. And it would be money well spent.

Yeah, the phrase "Youth is wasted on the young" springs to mind.

BTW many of my co-workers regularly let the gorgeous men run their baths. I never did. My loss.

                  Good call. I am envious.
I like badgers, books and booze, more or less in that order.

                  • Well, since I'm into all this soul-baring I might as well put some stuff down.

Successfully avoided K this morning. Actually avoided him even more than I planned because a per diem was working today and was in really early, so there was no conversation of any kind. Whew. To be honest, I miss the chats we used to have in the morning, back when we were just a couple of coworkers shooting the breeze. I don't have a lot of chitchat in my life, which is a good thing. That amount was just about right. Maybe someday we can get back to that place. Or maybe I should find someone else to chitchat with at work. Hmmmm.

Slept pretty well despite somehow carrying on a text convo with Ex. Not sure how I did that. I invited him to come to Acadia with me and he enthusiastically accepted, which is not characteristic of him.

I'm watching the film Secretary with Maggie Gyllenhaal and James Spader, which is supposed to be really hot. Unfortunately I am finding myself laughing a great deal. If I were her, I would buy up all the copies and burn them.

Went swimming, good way to work out the DOMS from TRX yesterday. (That's a lot of acronyms.) Unfortunately my left heel is very sore today, I must have strained something yesterday. Pretty sure I know how I did it, I will have to be more careful. After the heel problems I have lived through in the past, I am taking no chances of going through that again.

Some horrible women had pine scent in the sauna, so I beat a quick retreat. I despise people who do stuff like that. I had better get used to it, the summer people are arriving in droves.

I ate a stupid amount of spicy beef with guacamole and sour cream. It is obvious that dairy is not my friend. NO DAIRY.

                    • Tip for Today

                      Again from Mark Twain -

Your limitations may just be in your mind.

“Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter.”

So many limitations are mostly in our minds. We may for instance think that people will disapprove because we are too tall, too old or balding. But these things mostly matter when you think they matter. Because you become self-conscious and worried about what people may think.

And people pick up on that and may react in negative ways. Or you may interpret anything they do as a negative reaction because you are so fearful of a bad reaction and so focused inward on yourself.

If you, on the other hand, don’t mind then people tend to not mind that much either. And if you don’t mind then you won’t let that part of yourself become a self-imposed roadblock in your life.

It is, for instance, seldom too late to do what you want to do.

That sounds great, for me chillies and beef are a top combo. Just got a minor travel issue, darn it....

                              • The new wand is definitely sucking power, the old one's motor was more feeble than I thought! Actually, believe it or not, I have been using it on my feet, especially the sadly sore left heel. But yeah, the whole K thing got things woke up! But how sad is it I am thinking I have to travel to the other side of the world to get laid?

The plumber is supposed to come today and fix my sink. I know him, he is a nice guy, very personable and funny. Also very tall. I sort of thought he was interested in me (he is or was single) but he never followed up so to speak. In case you are wondering, I have no snobbery about going out with a tradesman.
